What would be a post drive image back up command I could use to power off my computer after a back up operation ?

Set up a scheduled task to run at shutdown which is what I do.

Does anyone know of a post command, to be used with a scheduled back up that will both shutdown Windows and power off the computer.
The tsshutdn.exe command : C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\TSSHUTDN.EXE 0 /DELAY:0 /POWERDOWN was intended to be used shutting down Windows servers, but when I inserted it the "RUN" utility it shutdown Windows and my computer .
But when I used it as post command, it failed and I received a error in my drive image back up log file.
Any ideas ?

This has been discussed in this thread. The reply in post #3 is guaranteed to work (under Windows xp)or money back.

 

Larry, I suggested before that you use a scheduled task that creates your backup image at shutdown. This will run a task that creates your backup image and then shutdown and turn off the machine. I use this feature every night and works quite well. No need for any post processing commands.

This works pretty well only if you want to run a backup every day, which is not what everybody wants.
On the other hand, if you want to run a backup on another regular period,you should proceed as I said in my previous post.

Thanks for the replies . I do once a week full image drive back ups. I think on this week's back up I will try this post command : C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\shutdown.exe -s-f-t0 . I added the [ -f ] to make sure everything closes before shutdown .

I have a need to run something other than True Image at shutdown. I don't see a setting for this in the Task Scheduler on Windows XP.

Is there a way to do this, or are you referring to setting up a True Image scheduled backup?

There isn't. I was referring to a TI scheduled backup.

You should tell us exactly what you have to run before shutdown.

 

I found this after I posted. Haven't tried it yet:

gpedit.msc

Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Scripts (Startup/Shutdown)
