MRU Blaster vs. Ad-Aware

Hi,
Got a simple question. I noticed that when Ad-Aware finishes scanning there are still some MRUs MRU Blaster has missed. I sent the Ad-Aware log to Javacool software a little earlier today to get their input on it. But I'm also interested in any other opinions and ideas about why this is occurring. They asked me to submit the log so they can add the "rogue" MRUs if you will to their database. I've attached the Ad-Aware log here as well to give you as complete a picture as possible.

I don't think there is any program out there that is gonna thoroughly clean all the MRU lists, usage tracks, and temp files you may have on your computer. After you run one cleaner, more than likely another program will pick-up something missed if ran immediately afterwards.....that's just the way things are!

For example, you could run an Ad-Aware scan and follow it up with an Ace Utilities scan and i'm sure Ace would pick-up many things that Ad-Aware has missed.

Although it's still worth having and it still does a good job, the MRU-Blaster database hasn't been updated in over 3 years, so I wouldn't use it as an only line of defense as far as cleaning goes, and I wouldn't expect it to clean everything you have.

Personally I would just use a combination of different programs and be done with it and not worry. I use MRU-Blaster along with CCleaner and Ace Utilities, I assume that together they take care of most everything I may have, and they all run in a matter of seconds.

Anyways, I don't know if that helps, but that's my two cents!

Thank you for your response. I appreciate your honesty. I especially appreciate you telling me that the MRU database hasn't been updated in over 3 years. That sounds a lot like the SpywareGuard updates post I submitted. I don't know if you've seen that one yet. I'm going to check it out.

It's horrendous, the rate at which Windows creates MRU's. Just running one cleaning program probably creates another MRU. Then the next program will find that MRU and remove it, thus creating another MRU. The only way to avoid MRU's being created is to leave your PC turned OFF!

They only take up a small amount of space and are usually NOT a security problem anyway so why all the fuss? Temporary Internet files take up a lot more space and ARE a security threat, so getting rid of them should rate a much higher priority than the MRU's.

I've already said, that I run MRU Blaster from my Startup folder, but from that same folder I also run my XPCleanup batch file that removes all temp files and associated crapola from my HD on every boot-up.

NO one program is going to keep your PC squeaky clean.....it takes several programs working together in a chorus to get the job done right.

Since in my computer business, I'm responsible for the efficiency and security of hundreds of PC's, I have to pick the best programs that will work in harmony with one another and get the whole job done.
I love the programs represented in this forum.
