    Hi,

I have only Returnil and LnS Firewall in my notebook. Currently my system running good (very light). Now, I still do not feel secure when I am online. If I want only one other security software to be installed in my PC, which one is the best with my current setting: NOD32 (paid) or ThreatFire (free) or else ??

    Thanks.

    Antivir PersonalEdition and Comodo Boclean.
Both are very light in resources.
    And they are free. ;)

    Hi,

avguard.exe using 34.588K of memory. I think it is high on memory usage.

    Thanks.

With these software, you are already very secure.
Add a imaging software like ShadowProtect if you feel you need more.:shifty:

Indeed. I'm not sure, if you still need security softwares to stop the execution of possible installed malware (like stealing data) between two reboots or isn't that necessary in a virtual environment ? A software like Anti-Executable or SSM or DefenseWall, ...

I bought ProcessGuard, but have not use it anymore. Sometimes, I feel tired to interact with warning screen :p So, I tried to keep it simple this time.
I try Returnil (free) and like it so much.
I bought LnS and currently still learning and maybe purchasing Phant0m Ruleset.

Yes, I do need protection in between Returnil since I do online banking. That's why I am evaluating between Antivirus software (NOD32, purchase once before) or the new ThreatFire (free). I tried to be light so I have to choose between antivirus or Threatfire or else. NOD32 will be difficult since I use Returnil, so does ThreatFire. I hope I could find a way to put ThreatFire data to my D:\ drive.

avguard.exe now goes down to 1.300K o_O Weird...

I think Erik correct. I do still need some protection in between reboot :D
So, it's not perfect yet. :D

I see it this way. When you are surfing on the internet, there is always a possibility that malware installs itself on your computer, Returnil doesn't stop that.
The question is : can a malware hurt you, even when it is installed in a virtual environment ?
I have read posts, where members claimed that this was possible and that's why you need security softwares to stop malware from doing their evil job, especially stealing data.
Returnil will remove them after reboot, so that problem is fixed, but not the execution and that is the worst part of a malware.

To this list, maybe even Comodo could be another alternative (to your FW) and provide HIPS...

Hi, Sandboxie would be a good addition and it works great with Returnil. It would save you from having to reboot as all you would need to do is empty the sandbox. Add another security program of your choice and you'll be fine ;) .

I also have less memory usage with Antivirs guard (6,000k). It may not like your system, it happens sometimes.

If your wanting only one other program, it would probably be some sort of good HIPS. I would probably feel comfortable running Sandboxie and Online Armor (HIPS and firewall) together. Couple that with Returnil and unless you shoot yourself in the foot, your 99.99% covered.
