    Hi

The settings password doesn't work , when i put a password it seems to be fine , then i press the ok button , and when i reopen the setup window it says that the settings are not password protected , is it a bug ? I even reinstalled ESS RC1 and the problem is still there:(

I had to enter a password three times before ESS RC1 remembered it (and the fact that I had entered one). The first and second times that I entered a password, I closed the ESS GUI and when I went back in it was showing as not being password protected. Must be a bug.

Also, on a similar note, is it possible to log-in for the current session? At the moment, I have to enter the password everytime I respond to a pop-up. Or is that the intention?

    Steve.

I am with v2 right now but when I tried this on my test PC some days ago , it worked well . Setup and EGUI.exe closed and even after that it was fine , it didn't let me enter the setup without the password

I have tested this and have no problem with password setting in RC1. But some minutes ago, I have tried to enable option "Append note to the subject of sent infected mail" and when I reopened setting dialog, option was disabled. So I have enabled again, closed dialog, reopened and it was remembered correctly.

So it seems there are some problems with saving settings...

Yes, I have found this too. There seems to be a more general problem with changing a setting and getting it to 'stick', which can take a few attempts.

I had this same problem with the 'Show splash screen on startup' and 'Only show notifications which require user interaction' settings too.

Four times in a row the password would not keep under my limited account, but it took on the first attempt under my admin account (XP Pro SP2). Maybe it's meant this way to work under an admin account only?? I'm not sure, but that is what worked for me.
