    Hi all,

just a little message to say how much I'm angry against Acronis..

First, they have a very unpleasant way of fixing bugs : they release a new version instead of correcting their buggy software..was done with 9.0 home and now with 10.0

There are numerous bugs reported, and I filled a bug report in April. Got answered that it will be fixed in June (the archive location bug) and still no update in mid-september. o_O Only a new release. Disgusting.:thumbd: :thumbd:

Won't give a buck anymore to this company which DON'T CARE ABOUT COSTUMERS.

    ~snipped ot comment....Bubba~

    Thanks for reading

I'm afraid I with you as well. I first stared with Acronis in April this year. I read a few reviews that said it was a good product but the reviews were silent on the upgrade policy. It has turned out that there was no regular patch release to fix bugs. Only way seems to be to buy the latest version which I don't accept as a fair deal. I'm now looking for an alternative product with the same feature set but better support.

Haha I just finished a few months ago upgrading to Ver:10 and I get this email this morning to update to 11 for 39.95. Are they out of their freekin` minds? I have Paragon Drive Backup so that`ll be what`s used here from now on. Actuallly I use it more then Acronis now so leaving will be no problem. Haha I still think they`ve lost it. So sad. :( :)

    Acronis is a complete scam/ripoff.
I bought ATI 10 because it was claimed to be VISTA compatable.
I have NEVER been able to use it, because it simply does not work correctly with VISTA. Just look at all the posts and all the problems on this forum.

Now they want me to "upgrade" ?!?!*$%^E$

They should be BEGGING us to allow them a second chance by offering a free upgrade to a version that actually works.

All we can do is try to warn other unsuspecting dupes (like I was) that Acronis is completely unethical and their products do not work.

Don't waste our or your time worrying about other users reported problems.
Instead, assuming you actually have TI installed, come back and detail your own specific detailed problems.
You will be amazed at the help you can get here with the object of getting your backups and restores running properly.

I bought TI Home 10.0 just ten days ago, and today i received an e-mail from Acronis telling me that an upgrade to v11 costs $30. This is just wrong, and it's certainly not the way to conduct your business if you want happy customers.

I feel ripped off. The least Acronis could have done is to tell me that the product I was about to purchase was nine days away from being replaced (and probably discontinued). After reading a few posts from other dissatisfied Acronis customers on this forum, I'm left with the impression that Acronis' business model is about releasing bug fixes and minor improvements as "new versions".

    Hello,

    (emphasis is mine)

This broad statement is not true. I'm using it without any problem on Vista x64 (backup, restore, secure zone).
However, you may have encountered a bug or a hardware incompatibility (just a guess), but that doesn't mean that the product does not work on Vista on every computer.

Have you submitted a ticket to Acronis support ? What did they reply ?

I think it is an automated email. I've read here that the upgrade to v11 is free for people having bought v10 in the last 30 days.

    Regards,
    gkweb.

    gkweb,

Where did you read that the upgrade to v11 is free for people having bought v10 in the last 30 days, as I fall into that category? I wonder if they've cured the "corrupted" archive problem in v11? Perhaps the moderators would like to answer that one or let us have their comments.

I read that too, but as you said it's not official.

I just logged into my account at acronis.com to find some more info on this, and here's what it says under 'My Products':

"Acronis True Image 10 Home (English)
    Registration date: 2007-09-09

    Availiable upgrade to:

    * Acronis True Image 11 Home. Upgrade Now just for $29.99"

That's just great. Just $29.99. Never mind that only ten days ago I paid just $40 for the program and just $6 for extended download service. This is just greed, plain and simple.

By the way, I see that the latest update to their flagship product was in _March_. Is this a joke?

Most of the software manufacturers that I have dealt with before, would offer a free upgrade to a person already having the previous version. If they owned something older, then they would have to pay for the latest version.

How often does Acronis come out with new versions...how old is 10.0?

It was released in late October 2006, and it seems they have only released two updates to this product. The latest (and most likely final) one in March 2007.

I've never delt with Acronis before I bought True Image and Disk Director Suite ten days ago, but I can already tell how they operate. Instead of fixing their existing products, they focus all their resources on making "new versions" with a few added features to justify the upgrade.

    Hi again,

seems i'm not the only one to be annoyed by commercial behavior of Acronis.

Why the hell don't they fix prior product and make it work with buyers feedback of bugs and problems. The support team acknowledged my bug in June and still no fix...that's a shame

I have both Vista and XP Pro on my PC. Vista was installed on the laptop when I bought it. I have added XP.

I have backed up both partitions with TI, which worked fine from both systems.

But then I have installed the secure zone, which obviously was not a good idea, as I cannot access Vista anymore. It seems the boot record was modified by TI 10 when running under XP.

My OEM Vista DVD does not permit to restore the boot. I've had to restore an XP boot record.

Fortunately I use Vista only for testing and XP is my daily work system.

Now I cannot run Vista and I am afraid to try to restore from the Vista backup after reading about the TI 10 problems with Vista's new boot system. I don't want to let TI 10 mess with the working XP boot record I had to setup, and then have to reinstall XP to be able to resume work.

So, my answer is: TI 10 is advertised as Vista compatible, while it is NOT, because "partially compatible" cannot be advertised as "compatible", unless the restrictions are clearly mentioned.

Also, I have bought TI 10 in July, and I don't like at all this forced upgrade to version 11 just to get the correct behavior advertised for the previous version, which I bought only a couple months ago.

I totlly agree that the notion of NOT fixing bugs and trying to charge $30 for an upgrade to a buggy program is insulting at the very least.

I have been responsible for recomending TI to a number of people that look ot me for software advice. That has ended. As well as any consideration for corporate use at the 6 companies I manage software for.

    Absolutely incredible.
