How to wipe .EVT files from \Windows\System32 directory?

    ... Is there any way to do this with the OS locks on all the time? I can manually clear out the logs but they default to 64K and are always locked by Windows XP.

    It appears even by moving these files, they still we be around. I have just gone to limiting each of their sizes to 64K, and having their contents overwritten every 1 day. I think that's the best one can do with .EVT files, unless I missed something in the M$ tech. page you reference.

    You can delete .EVT files by modifying the registry and removing the paths of the EVT files you wish to eliminate from the event log service registry key and restarting. By doing this, the EVT files will no longer be locked by Windows and can be deleted. :)

    Of course, if you delete ALL the EVT files, you wont have any event logging to speak of, but if you are fine with that..... :D

    Yep, or just disable the Event Log service....
