Does anyone have any experience with this suite? Is it good? I ask as I noticed its not tested on av-comparatives.

Also, I'm curious as to how it performs when using resource-intensive apps, like online games. What's the resource utilization of it?

    Thanks in advance!

I tested it a while ago. It is pretty ok. It is reasonable but no perfect part. If you look good you'll see a test at av-comparatives.

I hear 2008 version is better

It may be just my machine but, I have had the GUI become unresponsive under certain situations. For example, the interface crashed a couple of times when trying to restore a file from quarantine to its original location. Also, the GUI has crashed when changing settings and click the apply/save button. Not sure why it just happens on occasion, so I removed it.

I had a pretty bad time with TM07, so bad in fact that I went back to TM06. tmproxy.exe kept on crashing, as did the stupid panel that slides out on the right, with trend-protect, etc.
It also kept asking for a password which I had never set, and to top it all off, the help file would only display "navigation to this webpage was cancelled". I spent hours on "trend support chat" or whatever it was called, and the only advice was to uninstall, then re-install. Occasional variation in above was uninstall, install without firewall, then install firewall.
Admittedly that was in one of the early 07 builds, they may have sorted out the bugs by now. (You'd certainly hope so!)

I did find it to run pretty heavy, much heavier than TM06 was, but again, that may have been fixed.

I also had problems with tmproxy as well. When it shuts down you lose net connection and all you can do is reboot. I didn't like the Trend Protect panel either but it was because it slowed down the loading of the main window. BTW, this has been removed in '08.

I was a Trend subscriber for a few years, and it protected me well. That said, I just installed 2007 IS to test it, and it I found that it was the worst resource hog I ever used (worse than the old Norton). It took over 110,000k in process memory use. I did have the spam filter enabled which uses a lot of memory, but still...

Does anyone know if the 2008 version which just ended beta is any less of a resource hog?

Can you give some idea as to the memory used for it's processes?

If I remember right it used 9 processes totaling around 32MB. This is actually lower than previous versions.

I ran Trend's 2008 beta, and it really slowed things down on my computer. It took forever to load when starting up and re-starting the computer. Browsing speeds was very slow. Of course it could just be my computer, but I don't think so. I never had this problem with 2007. It's also a very large download. Around a 100 MB's if I remember correctly.

Does TM08 still have that "venus flytrap" I think it was called? I really liked the idea of that, but in reality it didn't seem to remember what had been allowed before...
I am glad to hear that the "trend secure" panel has gone, the only "useful" feature it had was "support chat", and that only when things were going wrong.

Is 08 out of beta? I may well give it another go...

I just went to their website and I don't see an extension of the beta program. It shows it has expired.

i used TMIS 2007 for one year with no problem at all.
the only issue is it eat a lot of memory (~38MB), though i miss their WiFi intrusion feature.

PS. KIS used only ~9MB of my memory.
