There are post here which refer to many members using numerous brands of pc protection and no shortage of great advice.
But I'm more interested in hearing about what you use on your everyday machine. As in surfing, shopping, email etc..
As an example, I wonder if people are changing programs when they pay their credit card bills online, or check their bank balances.
Hopefully some of our more experienced people will reveal their secret formula for safe computing.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

AV and Sandboxie with router. I keep any banking transactions to a bare minimum. I have only been infected once by a keylogger and that was before Sandboxie. Most of the time it is used for email, web browsing and kids writing reports for school.

I'm using an AntiVirus, Firewall, HIPS, AntiTrojan, Wormguard and Firefox with noscript, adblock plus and CS lite.

I could add Geswall but somehow it conflicts with the online game im playing and the graphics are just wrong.

I actually have an old laptop setup specifically for online banking and shopping. I run faronics anti-executable and deepfreeze on it to ensure its integrity.
On my personal computer my staples are first defense-isr, ghost security suite, powershadow and defensewall.
I also have a test system. The programs on there change as often as my underwear.

All of my systems are backed up with acronis trueimage.

It would be much more beneficial to the OP to explain why you use the programs you list, as opposed to just listing 4 programs.

    Traders! Traders! :D

This is a copy of my Thread "What is your security setup these days?", I demand some Justice.... :p

My Thread has the most replies and most views in this category, please help keep it that way. If I had the power, I would may "What is your security setup these days?" a sticky, but sadly I can't.

By the way, #1 Protection is Online Armor AV+ because its easy to use, very effective, and a full featured security suite even with HIPS. To back up Online Armor is SandboxIE because anything that plays in the sandbox will vanish upon closing Firefox. Pro Security is there to backup Online Armor, not that it needs it, but there just in case.

Limited user account backed up with FDISR and hourly incremental images with Shadowprotect.
FDISR because I can test things relatively quickly without jeopardizing my setup.
Shadowprotect for the ultimate fuzzy feeling of not having to bother if I screw things up.
Limited user account because I grew tired of HIPS.

    Thank you Peter.
Yes. It would be more beneficial to explain what brands you use and why.

At work I use NOD32 and Online Armor with Internet Explorer 7 and MS Outlook for email. This machine is required to be quick due to the needs for CAD and calculations.

At home is KIS 7, Firefox with AdBlock, No Script and TOR, and Thunderbird for email. All applications on this machine is open-source or freeware.

My home computer is heavy traffic with kids, wife, torrents, wikipedia, GIMP and malware research, so no internet banking is done on it. The work computer is a notebook and only used by me with safe surfing habits, so it gets the bulk of the bill pay and internet banking.

I have KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security) 7 on my computer and laptop for layered protection... AntiVirus, BehaviourBlocker, Firewall. Also surf the internet with only Firefox (with NoScript extension, amongst others which are not related to security/protection).

Also have Sandboxie which I use a few times a day when visiting shady/untrusted sites... open firefox with it and all information downloaded with it (including malware) is easily deleted with a few clicks of the mouse.

I do online banking and shopping and have used credit cards online. No I do not change programs when I do a particular thing on the PC. I have only used Avira as an antivirus and the XP/SP2 firewall and Zone Alarm for the firewall. I also have a few non-resident Antispyware programs. Why do I use these? Because they were first on the PC or were a needed replacement to something that I could no longer use. Could I beef up my PC security by using other programs/brands? Perhaps. But I have no secret formula for safe computing to offer. I just read a few tech magazines and websites and hope for the best.:doubt:

    I do online transactions,purchases mostly.I don't do my banking on-line.

The programs that I use are those that I trust and prefer.
Comodo gets stealth at Shields Up and I like the configuration choices.
Avast because it updates reliably and has the shields.
WinPatrol Plus because I trust it and it has caught stuff for me.
Opera because it's secure, fast and customisable.
K-Ninja because of it's speed and simplicity.
