I am not having problems with LU. I am showing update date of 8-28. I just ran a manual update and this came up "Updates Web Site Authentication Definitions--does not require a reboot".

The "One Click" is in Help and Support. Click on Start Support Session in which it will attempt to "Autofix" your software. Afterwards click on Next and you will see some different options that may relate to your problem. In this case I don't see anything about LU problems so click on Contact Us. You will have three options-- Live Chat, Email, or Phone Support. After Clicking on Live Chat it will ask you to download and install some software (over 3 MB) for using with the Chat. Apparently it is used for remote assistance though my tech did not have to do in my case.

Live Update seems even slower with ver2008. Otherwise it seems like a great program, and light on RAM usage.

OK got it. Mine is the same version. I did find a website where NIS offered to remember my password so maybe there will be a tweak coming for IS. Thanks for all the info.

Just installed the add-on pack for NIS2008 and noticed that it only offers anti-spam and privacy control. What happened to adblocking? That was the only reason I used the add-on pack.

It doesn't have Adblocking? Bad news!
By the way, how is it compared to version 2007? Is it lighter?

They didn't include it anymore because Symantec felt that they should focus on other things (improving ant-spam), because Adblocking already exists in many browsers/extensions/plugins.

I really notice no difference. Doesn't seem slower or faster.

You're welcome EK :) I may have confused you by calling it "One-Click", I don't know where I picked that up, lol.

Regardless of what the clueless tech told oldshep, NAV/NIS '08 is final. They even have a new slogan: "Go ahead. You've got Norton" (which sounds kind of Dirty Harry-ish to me, lol).

I haven't tried playing a game yet. I usually turn Auto-Protect off before playing. I will try COD2 later when I get home tonight.

LK I believe you can choose what to update. And also when to check for updates. You have to set this by clicking on Liveupdate located in the Security Center. At least in my Vista business edition that's where it is.

That is strange. All it asked me was to log on to my Norton account in which a window came up saying something like "validating key" and then I was registered. I never had to put the key in so I assume it was still stored from the '07 install.

You may have to contact Norton support.

A while ago I played a COD2 mission (specifically "Hold the Line" in the British campaign) and noticed no sluggishness. I did turn AP off just in case though.

Yeah, guess what? No ad-blocking! o_O Notice they don't mention that in this link. Their ad-blocking is one of the ones that works well with MSN Premium. In fact, one reason I've stuck with Norton. Now they are taking ad-blocking away from the Add-On Pack 2008 (and perhaps all future releases).

    Big mistake Symantec!

Yes, just download NIS 2008 and let its installer uninstall NIS 2007 for you. Worked quite fine on my Vista Business system.

I downloaded the trial version of 2008 and utilized my key from 2007 version. During installation it did not automatically get my key when I logged into MyNorton account. Following installation I had click on the Help & Support link from the NIS 2008 home tab and then click on the "Activation" button. I was then able to enter my key.
