One more thing, ekrn.exe keeps wanting to connect out.

    What is it for?

Must I grant it with the browser rights?

i had problems installing 1b so i never installed it, but this one ran smoothly other than the fact that my internet didnt work until i rebooted.

the gui is much better. i was wondering, is there any way to close the program?

it's not mispelled on mine, but i did find something else.

if you disable antivirus protection and then turn it back on, the icon in the tray stays red.

That's right, if you are a registered user you can use your own user name and password to update either beta.

I don't know how the typo made it there, I checked it numerous times before the final compilation and I didn't spot any :) It will be fixed.

Squid. Access to internet granted by user ip. Manually (through browser) i can download update files from update server.

Ok, so i installed ESS beta 2 for my 64bit Vista, all went well (albeit no reboot request but it may not have needed one) and it appears to work fine.

Question though, i am aware that there are two different beta's going on here - ESS and NOD32.

ESS, i thought, contained NOD32 beta as well, can you confirm? As even though i have installed ESS my NOD32 is still at 2.7.

May just be a misunderstanding on my part.

In addition to the above, i have just installed NOD32 Beta 2 as well.

The old version 2.7 is still present (and working) and it appears to have got rid of ESS as this is no longer running.

So, is NOD32 a part of ESS?

Should NOD32 Beta 2 replace older versions or NOD upon installation?

Why did installing NOD32 Beta 2 overwrite or prevent ESS from working?

A reboot was not requested at the end of installation of either ESS or NOD32 Beta 2 and internet access was affected until a reboot was completed after install of NOD32 Beta 2.

Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit with NOD32 version 2.7 installed before installation of either ESS or NOD32 Beta 2.

ESS and NOD32 Antivirus must give a warning telling you to uninstall NOD32, if found in the registry.

Well it didnt im afraid, neither ESS or NOD32 prompted me to remove.

Additionally, when using VMWare, the ESS firewall needs to be disabled before the virtual system will get an IP address from DHCP.

This is on either automatic or interactive, interactive gives no prompt.

Disable the firewall on ESS on the host OS and the virtual system immediately can pick up a DHCP assigned IP address.

Well, I've just used my NOD32 user/passwords and they work OK.

ESS beta 2 installed with no problems, after uninstalling NOD32 & 3rd. party firewall, followed by registry cleaning. I always re-boot after installation of security products.

The program is working fine here on XP Home.

The right click scan option is excellent - I can hardly believe the scan speed! Just to try it, I scanned the ESS installer pack and it took around one second! Can this be true?

There actually is a remote administration support in ESS and EAV but only for ESET Remote Administrator version 2. ESET RA 2 is in beta stage and will soon go public.

Is Squid in transparent or non-transparent mode? If in non-transparent mode, please try to set a proxy server credentials in the update setup.

Squid works in non-transparent mode. We do not use user name and password for accessing proxy. Access to proxy granted by machine ip using src_ip directive in squid.conf.
I have access to proxy and can provide logs and configuration information if you need it. ESS installed in Windows XP Professional Russian edition (SP2) in VMWare virtual machine.

    I'll just quote my self so that you Moderators can see my previous message and question right here. No offence ofcourse :) ;

"I noticed that Security Center is not saying only like this for the FireWall Status: "ESET Smart Security FireWall [...]", but "One or more FireWalls [...]", even AFTER rebooting to make sure that wasn't the "problem". Looking in Windows FireWall's settings reports that it's controlled by a Group Policy.
Is this correct and why isn't Windows FireWall completely disabled?"

And also.. What's up with that "info-icon" that appears for example when notifying about successfull update and the like? I dunno if it looked like that before, but it doesn't look good at all. What I'm talking about is a line sticking out on the upper left from the "i" ... - this could look good if it wasn't so tight, but now it just looks silly and weird. :p I'll post two illustrated images to show what I mean exactly since I missed the opportunity some minutes ago. :D First what it looks like now, and second what you might think it should look like (just without that thing). :D

Shouldn't that also read "Update successful" or "Updated successfully"...
