So impressed *puppy* with the product that I just had to buy a license!

I have tested it at work on machines full of spyware and SAS cleared them all up - no sweat. So now my home PC is being treated to the registered version.

    Thanks for a great product!

Looking forward to Version 4 already :D

A very good security component for users' systems indeed. Straightforward, uncluttered, and to the point.

Sure is! Amazingly great product. And to think, I always thought that an antivirus product is enough to keep a system clear of all threats. Was I wrong!

Anyway so the spyware removed was:

    Adware.Vundo
    Adware.ClickSpring
    Trojan.Codec
    Trojan.Unknown Origin
    Adware.ClickSpring
    Adware.ClickSpring/Yazzle

I had been trying SAS free on my machine and also used it on a few different peoples machines to clean them up and was very impressed. So impressed that I bought the pro version for my computer and recomended that a few of the ones I cleaned up do the same.

    Very good program! :thumb:

    irrationalgeek,

What was or is, if is the same, the AV on the infected PC?

And yes, SAS is an excellent application ;)

Just 1 improvement and SAS is perfect....

.... ;) Please, somehow fix the feature when SAS goes to update its signatures online and triggers UAC in Vista.

    That's it! *puppy*

But now I'm running Kaspersky AV 7 (switched from Nod32) and SAS. *puppy*

 But SAS is mainly for Spyware and Ad-ware, he should have still been running an Antivirus program. No excuses there. :ouch:

Maybe I understand you wrong, but SAS sure is an anti-trojan as well.
See the shot from latest update.

    Hello.

Nice thread. This (SAS) is one of the most praised applications lately. On Wilders, at least. A poll titled something like "what's in your opinion the best AS" with 10 options or so would be very interesting indeed.

I use the free version at work, to clean up machines that have been so loaded up with Spyware and *Crapware* *puppy* that they are only just able to boot into Windows, I run SAS from my flash drive, go through the wizard - install the updates - remove lots of spyware and the PC's go back to normal. This has never been easier with any other antispyware products. :D :thumb:

Yes, it does have trojan detection and cleaning as long as the trojan relates to Adware / spyware / malware etc. But there are *lots* of other trojans that do not relate to Adware / spyware and malware so SAS would probably / possibly not detect those, you still need an Antivirus product for those and viruses. :p

Yeah, that would be cool and they are working on that, maybe 4.0 will have that fixed, maybe. For me SAS works damn smooth on my computer and it complements any antivirus software, so for me it's already perfect, but I hope they add a few things like a modern and nice new layout and an original icon for the taskbar. Alright, I know this has nothing to do with program itself and yes I would rather the team focus on making SAS even more effective, but they can hire a seperate graphic team to focus on making it look nice and cool, but hey maybe people agree with me or they don't, either way it's all good.:D

It must be a good application, nobody has complained so far, but Ewido is also good.

I run Ewido and SAS every 2 months when I remember, and they have never found anything (more than a year now). If people find a long list of spyware with SAS or Ewido it means only one thing: There is something wrong with their defence.

If a system has only a FW and an AV, there is perhaps a reason to install SAS in real time, but if you have HIPS and/or a virtual program nothing really should slip through.

I clean infected systems for a living (among other things) and as most of us know that nothing is 100%. I've seen Spy Sweeper (SS) miss its fair share of malware that SAS was able to detect and remove. Send the missed samples to samples[at]superantispyware.com

As far as the SAS UAC issue is concerned I will agree that it's annoying, but Nick and the team are fully aware of the issue and working on a resolution. :thumb:

I work in the ICT Field too and one of my jobs is also cleaning Malware infected pc's! SAS is the best asset for my work, I've sent a request to my team leader to get a license; the team behind SAS deserve this! *puppy*

Very happy to hear that the SAS UAC thing is being looked into! :thumb:

I'm not too worried about the graphical design, it's neat enough. IMHO

I did not know this  but my ignorance has not hurt me because AV is always needed and the first line of defense imho.

I am looking hard at this one too as replacement for BOClean maybe? :doubt:

EDIT: I mean the Pro version of course.

That will confuse people even more:

    1* Adware/Spyware/Malware related Trojans
2* Lots of non-Adware/-Spyware/-Malware related Trojans

Which (kind of) apps. covers 1*
Which (kind of) apps. covers 2*

I am not asking for HIPS apps.

I've never looked at BOClean before but I have tried and hold a license for:
-Spyware Doctor (too heavy on resources and it missed some malware*)
-CounterSpy (very light on resources, but it also missed an instance of malware*)
-SpySweeper (too heavy on resources, terrible UI and missed some malware*)

    * Malware that SAS found and removed - no sweat! :thumb:

I'm not saying that it is a fact, only that this is what I've noticed and noted to come to my conclusion. ;)
