Let's see now. My Layered Approach which is been consistent for more than a year with exception of the occasional updated programs ie:EQSecure for one.

Some many years of actual security experience is my biggest asset. Surf safely, tighten browser or using a good alternative one. I've created an environment on ALL my units where this layered security serves in a sense as an active grid of Sensitive Sensors.

I round out all of these above with PARAGON DRIVE BACKUP 8.51 + DRIVE SNAPSHOT images.

The VERY BEST!!!! program i admire out of all of them is Leapfrog's creation of FD-ISR. This single rollback program has revolutionized and renewed my overall confidence and is amazingly complimented all of my shielding strategy as well as set an unstoppable pace for a more enjoyable and calmer computer experience than any other program bar none.

I forgot to check it but I also have Anti-Spyware -> SUPERAntiSpyware free

 

I use Kerio 2.1.5, SSM free, and Proxomitron as my primary software defenses. These are supported by various file/filesystem integrity monitoring apps, AV scanners, numerous batch files, script protection, etc. If all this fails, I can restore using Acronis.

Not long ago, I installed Smoothwall on an old PC and use it as a router/hardware firewall/IDS. I probably don't need it, as Kerio 2.1.5 never failed me, but it does give me a secure foundation on which to build a home network.

Voted None, though I might also vote Other, since Vista is a limited account (UAC) with a sandboxed browser (IE7's Protected Mode), but OS does not count.

 

I voted for antivirus and a software firewall. I also use pure limited account in XP and Vista. Disc imaging and snapshots.

 

In addition to the apps in my sig. I have disabled many services, use MVPS hosts file, Spyware Blaster and Spybot S&D immunizations and NoScript and AdBlock Plus plugins for FF. Many of the programs in my sig combines a lot of the choices. For example: Online Armor 2 is a HIPS and Firewall and A2 Anti-Malware is an AT/AS and IDS all rolled into one. I also have many other cool on demand scanners and tools, some of which I'm still learning how to use .

I'm also working on a backup plan. I have the software and I'm looking into the hardware .

 

I use ShadowProtect for Image Backup of my system partition.
I use Karen's Replicator for File Backup of my data partition.
I need at least one backup software, that doesn't cause any activation problems, when I need it. My data is more important than my system.

I use FirstDefense-ISR for :
- Immediate System Recovery
- cleaning up my system : all folders and registry, including infections.
- keeping my system working properly constantly
- second backup of my system partition
My very best investment until now.

I still use security software to prevent installation and/or execution of infections.
- Look 'n' Stop + Router
- Anti-Executable
- DefenseWall
I don't need a group of scanners for removal of infections. My frozen snapshot takes care of that and much better : complete, faster (2 minutes), during each reboot and without false positives or true negatives.

 

Mainly with FirstDefense ISR, VMWare and True Image and use a hardware and software firewall. If I ever think I have a problem from looking at the logs and connections I use autoruns and system sleuthing programs. If I still feel I'm in trouble I'd then fire up winternals ERD commander or another live CD.

 

My hardware firewall is the main protection for my system. Other than that its acronis trueimage, first defense ISR, virtual pc and powershadow.
I do use other software but i change that as often as i change my underwear.

 

I use OnlineArmor AV+ so I guess that means...Other.

 

Apart from the usual AV+firewall, I'd add common sense to that list as well.

I have a hardware firewall (router, but then is there really a hardware firewall since the hardware has to run software itself ), which is a Linksys WRT54G 3 so it runs iptables.

Windows XP: avast! since it is the families pc

NetBSD: None, but I may use pf if I get around to it
OpenBSD: Same as above
Arch Linux: Same as above, but replace pf w/ iptables,
