That's what I'm going to do on Monday cuz they sent sending me a activation code that doesn't work for KISS 7.

Rilla, try to convert the code to a key here https://activation.kaspersky.com/ before doing that.

I think the problem may be that some people downloaded the key file from a link provided by element 5 not an activation code as is my case. The tech could pull up my order number but not my key file so he sent me a new activation code which worked fine.
All I had to do was give him my order number, it took 10 minutes. He then sent the activation code and ask me to wait 30 minutes before installing it so the servers could sync up.

I have been hunting for it but haven't found it yet. I just restored my image with Kav 6 on it and it works ok and shows August 2008 expiry again and updates ok so I will stick with that for now.

Okay Don, I will give it a try and let you know if it works.

EDIT:I used the link you gave and converted the activation to a key and had the key sent to my email. I extracted the key from the zip file.

I tried numerous times to use this key and I get the same thing I got before "key type invalid for this application". Finally I booted back to XP from Vista and re-read the email that was sent from Kav and I then discovered they are criss crossing the info between my two Kav subscriptions I have (3yr license Kav Antivirus and 2yr license for Kiss). It says in the email "The attached archive contains a key file which will provide full functionality of the anti-virus product." At least this is what it looks like anyway.

So where do I go from here?

I just thought of something, you should be able to go to element5 site and get info on all purchases made through them. I think you have to create a account first, not sure, but I have done this before and all my history of purchases was there. Give it a try and see what happens.

Thanks Rilla. I will give that a try or maybe phone them at the first of the week. I dont have the same email address that I had when I first had it and I no longer can access that email address so logging in with that won't work any more.

Kav 6 is working ok for me tho, and I have a year on it so I will just continue with that until it is not supported or next August when my licence runs out..which ever comes first.

There ya go, give them a call at the same time they can update everything for you.

Recently I started sending important emails that need to be kept like license codes etc to my gmail account so I will always have them even if a HD fails and I lost my info for some reason. It's a just in case thing.

I've started to do the same thing. I reformat and stuff a lot and I am usually pretty good at keeping things backed up but I do have the odd oops moment.

You can change the mailaddress when you have logged into element5...................you could also try to register in the personal cabinet and request a new key that way:https://support.kaspersky.com/en/PersonalCabinet/Registration/ and thats what i would do.

Just an update on my licence situation. Used Don's suggestion to send a support ticket on the licence last week andstill haven't heard anything back. Found my purchace info and although it was bought earlier it wasnt installed until August 2006 when my subscription for another AV ran out so it definately should be good until Aug 2008. However it is still no go with Ver 7. Decided to go with another AV instead of staying with Kav 6 as I don't know how much longer it will to get updates with the new version out and apparently not going to get anything back from Kaspersky.

I finally got mine straightened out after two weeks. I had to call them cuz they gave me a activation for the wrong program instead of KISS7. There is no way I could have done this through email, it would have taken for ever.

Threedog call the toll free # so you can use the new version.

I gave it a try, Rilla. Their records show that I bought it at the end of Sept of 2005 so they are sticking by that. I explained to them that it wasnt installed until August of 2006 as I had bought it to install on my work computer and my employer wouldnt let me (he is a Norton fan) so I saved it until my Nod licence ran out on my home computer in August of 2006 and installed my unused Kav. Thats why on the Kav licence information in the program that it shows it is good until August of 2008 as it was a 2 year licence. I have since reinstalled my Norton 2007 to which I have about 160 days left on the licence. Its working ok for me so I am going to stick with that and close the book on Kav for now. Maybe when the Norton licence runs out I might give Kav another try but doubt it with all that has gone down.

Thanks for your help and suggestions, Rilla. You too Don.

    Hi Threedog,

This is interesting as to when the time starts on a license. My understanding was that on a boxed copy it does not start until installed. However, on a download it starts when purchased. Evidently that is the case in your situation.

Maybe they do not have a good way to determine when the installation was made, but it would seem fair to me that the time would not start until the program was installed. The license issue is a mess in my view.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Sorry to hear that. I even thought they went by when you install it. I learned something from this as well.

FWIW I never heard back from customer service & I wrote them twice, if I hadn't found my original # I would of never gotten v7 to work. Perhaps Kaspersky has grown too big too fast, their customer service is not what it once was...

I just got another email from Support a couple of days ago telling me to contact US support requesting an activation code for Kav 7. That would make it just under 2 full weeks since I sent my first support ticket in. Of course US support has already told me that I am SOL so I have totally given up on it.

Nav 2007 is running beautifully for me so I am going to stick with that.
