I got what i'm sure is a virtually the same email.
It does however mention that my new licence
will be good for one ( 1 ) computer. The licence
i purchased from Ewidio was good for up to four
    ( 4 ) computers. I will be uninstalling AVG
from all the computers in the house today. I
find that i no longer wish to have any Grisoft
product on any compter of mine.

Don't expect an official statement from Peter but a personal statement at most.

When is Paul Wilders closing the Ewido forum?

    Ewido?

It has ceased to exist as a product. I and I assume most have upgraded to AVG anti spyware. Maybe a very few still have the obsolete Ewido product.

Either drop the Ewido forums or rename to AVG.

But it could be that Grisoft does not want Wilders support forums competing against their "official" AVG support forum.

Personally, I liked the Ewido name and the Ewido logo more.

Still no further statement :thumbd: It's really a shame. Independently whether the company is called Grisoft or Ewido. That's the point !

I don't think the Ewido forum will be closed anytime soon because at least rudimentary support is still being offered here from time to time.

Renaming to AVG is probably the better option, but I think the reason why the Ewido name has stuck here is because AVG is a name more assosciated with an Anti-Virus than with an Anti-Spyware application. If this was the AVG forum then we would have two direct brands competing (NOD and AVG) for forum space (this is a matter of point-of-view and opinion though), and more importantly, there would be a lot more general AVG related questions instead of keeping the focus on AVG AS/Ewido.

I will agree that this is a very stupid marketing move on the part of Grisoft. Honestly it makes them look like fools when it was through and done that AVG AS was the next version of Ewido!

That official forum is mainly meant for free users only. If they have plans to make it into a full fledged forum then thats pretty rad; otherwise there's very little chance of competition (how does it matter anyway when either one of your own "branches" gets the upper hand?).

On a side note, I wish to mention that in recent days, in my email communications with Grisoft's support I have seen that sometimes Ewido is represented as "Anti-Malware Development a.s." and not as Ewido. It could probably mean that Ewido is a division or a company no longer exists.

Couldn't support questions be answered in "other anti-malware software", archive the "Ewido" section and fill the void with possibly another "antispyware" companyo_O I ask this question not to bash Ewido, but out of curiousity

I think you are right. I think the Ewido guys have gone AWOL.

I’m possibly giving the Ewido guys (as opposed to the Grisoft guys) too much credit, but I think there is a chance they have gone AWOL for all the right reasons.

As was reported in this thread, Grisoft treated the Ewido team terribly by announcing a policy that directly contradicted what the Ewido guys had stated in these forums. They were undercut -- not supported by their larger company. Indeed, their company basically betrayed them. Grisoft made an announcement on their product without consulting them.

Grisoft caused the Ewido team the loss of credibility in these forums.

If my company took active steps to undercut me and kill my credibility, I too might have the reaction of not wanting to speak publicly any longer about anything to do with that company or product.

Grisoft killed Ewido team participation in these forums.

Nobody should ever buy a Grisoft product.

Grisoft killed ewido period.I had those exact same words removed from this forum last year when the takeover occurred. There's a good chance they will be removed again.

I bought ewido 3.5 and didn't have a problem with it til it crashed last June after the takeover.

Now I'm getting (along with some other customers)Logfile and Error Logfile messages that started on the 6-18-07 update to 7.5.1.43.

Things were so much better when ewido 3.5 was actually ewido!

Nah.... it's getting kind of hard to not see it for what it is now.

At that time, there was cumulative denial.

Like Giant, like PestPatrol.....Ewido is history (literally....there is no product named Ewido anymore -- just like PestPatrol and Giant).

But beyond that... like DiamondCS.... once you lose your integrity as a company.... as a consumer, ya gotta react and move on to the next product.

There are no longer any AVG products
on any computer in my household as
of about 2 weeks ago nor are there likely
    to be any again.

If asked about security programs i now
    steer people away from AVG.

AVG has lost my trust and respect completely.

    Just re-installed Avg Anti-Spyware 7.5.1.43 (Ewido). I had a lifetime license.
Now the screen no longer has unlimited license on it.They must of
made changes, so that on re-activation would replace the text that lifetime license holders, would usually see from the registry.

Before this install it said the usual unlimited license.

I guess we have to say aloha to Ewido's lifetime license.

We should also say aloha to AVG.

Mine still says, in addition, "You have an unlimited license for AVG Anti Spyware."
But I am not sure what that means. I plan to keep it as is until/if it runs out.

    Best,
    Jerry

    It's over***

The Ewido guys are not coming back.

The Ewido team was bitch slapped by Grisoft....they lost their credibility in this forum, and now the jigs up.

    It is time.

This forum needs to be put into mothballs.

Grisoft made a promise in this forum, and then broke it without thought. Grisoft is not to be trusted. Grisoft should not be hosted at Wilder's.

The discussion now needs to center on which AS should occupy this spot now that Ewido is gone.

    Should it be SAS?

    Frank the Perv is right.

    Psychotic, but absolutely right,

I think this situation absolutely requires, a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

I don't use AVG, and wasn't an Ewido subscriber - but I think it should be clear by now that the former Ewido team is being muzzled by Grisoft management.
While I didn't exactly pore over each thread in here, I did happen to notice that Peter.ewido remained helpful while he could. I'm not sure if he's a Grisoft employee or not, but if he is, why would he go against management to post here and risk losing his job? If that happened, who would volunteer to pay his salary?
Don't be so quick to hang a bad rep on someone without knowing the details.
That said - Frank the Perv hit a bullseye.

If this is true the Ewido fourms should be closed by Wilders.

It is sad when things seem a forgone conclusion.

No posts from Grisoft/Ewido, and no updates since the 3rd, it seems to be stuck on 878,000.

My licence doesn't run out until December, if it manages to run until then, I shall be moving on. Sad really, I remember the good old days when Ewido had that wonderful red noisy flashing siren. :)
