Was that a "security" center warning? If it is, it's Windows afaik. The solution is simple, if that's the problem.

I've never had any problems with CPF. Low CPU usage and no slowdowns on the net.

    Using AntiVir and CFP.

I too have gripes with Comodo firewall at the moment. What good free alternative is thereo_O I need a decent solution. I am thinking about a purchase of either Avira Internet Security or Kaspersky Internet Security as I now have a 2nd machine with Vista on it.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
I have a decent solution. But are you willing to run a firewall that is 3-4 years old? How seriously do you take leaktests?

I take leak tests with a resonable about of importance. The firewall is the first part of preventing anything bad getting into your system. I have other programs like my Antivir PE Premium and Spyware Terminator with HIPS to stop anything do bad to my other programs. Comodo seems to fail badly when it comes to inbound protection having only had 1 inbound blocked thing in a week of surfing.

Go on... what's your solution? P.S. Running AOL 9 VR so old Sygate isn't compatible and out of the question.

Oh god, you're not going to suggest Windows Firewall are you? Come on now, I have more sense than that.

    Hello,

Sygate was my suggestion. What is AOL 9 VR? Sounds like a medicine?

Comment 1: Leaktests are important far far after packets pass the firewall. It's not the second nor the third thing that happens after firewall filters traffic. You need to execute something - and once you do, game over.

Comment 2: How is the number of blocked this or that a measure of a firewall's effectiveness? Isn't it the number of non-blocked?

    Mrk

I do a lot of p2p and I'm using Sygate FW v5.6 (last released version before Symantec snuffed them out). It's nothing short of great.

A lot of ppl don't want to use a FW from a defunct developer, but imho Sygate FW is a very refined product and doesn't need further developement (except perhaps for Vista - which I don't/won't use)! ;)

Firstly AOL 9 VR is AOL Version 9.0 The Vista Release Version. It's the AOL Browser. Unfortunately Sygate is not compatible with AOL versions Newer than version 6 I think. It doesn't even allow you to install it.

Secondly, The number of inbound blocked traffic is the firewalls effectivness in blockin illegitamate traffic coming into your computer. ZA blocks a fair amount At least 10 or so a day depending on what your doing and that's even behind a Secure Wireless Router.

    Hmmm... search goes on...

Hi Melih, anybody trying to create FUD, is just a question.
I have questions for you. Please can you explain this:

    1. (what we are "capable of",we simply do NOT do that),
questions: how Comodo firewall is "capable of"?

    2. (even though we can do all sorts of stuff like collecting user information, we simply do NOT do that),
questions: how Comodo firewall can collecting all sorts of stuff?

    3. (what we can do with what we do),
questions: what Comodo firewall can, and what Comodo firewall do?

I expectant your educated reply, so that we eliminate any doubt in future.

    Hiro,
you can wait all your life, i don't think he'll reply, not here at least. If your concerns are genuine, post in the Comodo forum. No one will delete your post as long as you are polite, as i think you are. :)

I think i have to stop posting in these subjects :D and to continue my journey in the free software world.
Fresh air you know? Everything documented, source is open, editable..

I believe Melih, if i had to guess it's lawyer stuff.

A side note, when you download it, they have your IP, like any other. What they do with it is up to them, or even if they do anything with it.
    Also,

If you believe Melih I no comment, but read again this, Melih sooth!
OK, maybe not selling information, maybe just share for free? is not important so much, but GATHER yes.

    PS:
Perhaps idea as Melih wants impress User, and divert attention from the problem, is good idea for new generation of spyware, maybe this come with new popup like this:

"Hello I am SPYWARE, some people confuse what we are capable of, with what we do, people mixing the issues of what we can do with what we do. Even though we can do all sorts of stuff like collecting user information we simply do NOT do that. Believe me!"

    Have fun...

I tried to hint it, i placed bold in the important parts. That refers to the site.
Also read "product download", and "opt-out".

Most of what your misinterpreting imo is related to the site or the certificates.

lol, Zone Alarm's inbound protection is a joke. I've got about 4000 "intrusions attempts" said to be blocked by ZA. Come on, this is marketing, or how to show how efficient and good your firewall is ! ;)
I'd rather use Comodo, which barely logs anything (probably the REAL hacking attempts), than ZoneAlarm which takes a single 'ping' or ftp porn scan as an intrusion.

Some people have complained that Comodo has poor logging so that they don't know what is attempting to contact their computer. Comodo has more HIPS related features than ZA so it may be able to discern what is "noise" versus an actual intrusion attempt or maybe not?

Well my point was ... ZoneLabs is trying (and apparently manages) to settle some paranoia. That huge number of 'intrusion attempts' is just supposed to make you feel safe using their product, but hey, don't fall into that trap ;)
Since a lot of people without any decent knowledge about computers buy their product (probably the major part of their customers), that strategy works, proof is, it is still the most used firewall nowadays ...

I messaged earlier in this forum of disstisfaction with CPF. After trialling Outpost Pro for a while I realized that my dissatisfaction was unfounded. I having been previously an avid ZoneAlarm user had paranoia about how many inbout alerts I was getting. I get the same number if not less than with Comodo. I have returned to Comodo for good this time!

I use Comodo for 1 year now. Best Firewall I ever used. I don't care so much about privacy. Comodo is to be trusted. Let's not fall in paranoïa, come on. It's sure faster than ZA and much lighter withoiut bugs. Go COMODO!:)
