Sorry. I missed the word setup.

ok I unzipped some of my samples and the scanner reports no nasties found. I am guessing most of the sigs are missing as of now.
Or to put it another way. Out of 25 randomly picked trojans and virus the scanner found none. It should have found at least 6 virus and since the trojan sigs have not been added yet, i didn't expect it to catch those.

I installed a2 and ran it and it took eleven minutes to run the scan. It found two minor nasties so we shot those in the head. It seems to work pretty well so far. if anything out of the ordinary shows I'll post it. :)

Can I get the list of useed trojans and backdoors? :)

a² doesn't search for viruses - by the way ;).

    Hello Andreas
    Happy Thanksgiving :D

Here is a partial list of the trojans I used. This is as NOD-32 calls them out. For those that think NOD does not catch Trojans and is only an AV program, you need to think again.
I am using the free version right now.

    Win32/Armageddon trojan
    Win32/Flooder.Assault.10 trojan
    Win32/Runner.Joiner.16 trojan
    Win32/Nuker.BloodLust trojan
    Back_Orifice.Dropper trojan
    Win16/Nuker.BitchSlap.A trojan
    SubSeven.2_2.B1 trojan
    Win32/Optix.Pro.11 trojan
    DonaldDick.1_53 trojan
    Win32/Nuker.Divine.2 trojan
    Win32/DeepThroat.31.B trojan
    Win32/Nuker.KillWin trojan
    Win32/Nuker.Knewk.A trojan
    Win32/Nuker.CGSi.A trojan
    Win32/Nuker.Panther trojan
    Win32/Chico trojan
    Win32/DDoS.Ras.11 trojan
    Win32/HackTack.E trojan

How about fixing all the false positives with the MSDEV ?
Take a look at the Microsoft MSDN MFC Examples - they got flaged as trojans beside a lot of other f/p.

    controler Guest

I couldn't be clean because these are my samples
All I am saying is the A2 scanner isn't detecting them in my folder. I unzipped them so they should be detected.
    Using Windows XP home.

  12. Andreas Haak

Did you deactivate you AV while scanning? Can you send me the samples please?

  13. controler

    controler Guest

If I don't deactivate NOD, it will kick on when A 2 access the nasties.
I wish the scanning screen would not dissapear when the (no malware found) screen kicks on because you can't copy and paste the scan and when you save the HTLM report. The only thing in the report is NO Maleware Found.
I will send you a few of the samples and you can see if your scanner detects them on your system. ;)

    Hi controler,

If you have TDS can you send anything not detected by it ? If not, can you allow us some of your samples ? I have been collecting flooders, nukers and other "things" for a while now, but always want more :D Call me greedy..

    Hello,To all

Ok it's here now could someone please
tell me what this program is all this time
i have been thinking this program was
something like SSM but the more i hear

of this prog the more it sounds like
a Trojan scanner or Virus scanner
but at some other forum they are
calling it a Firewall so please tell me

    what is this prog

    Good luck

I have examined this program against over 600 trojans and exercised great caution to test it against many versions of "The Beast." It detected none. It did detect Corel Draw and our proxy as malware.

I am not surprised after all I have read everywhere. This Andreas Haak person needs to put more effort into this product before it can be put to market. I can only say that it is a waste of time now. Our company has decided not to order NOD32 because of their connection with this person. I was most disappointed after examining this program.

Well then ... you'll get a bounce off this one as well since you've just proven a significant lack of customer service finesse by doing what you've just done to a clearly unhappy potential customer by not only going after them, but by posting the result after demanding that they satisfy your questions rather than the other way around. I'd be quite concerned now about testing your product only to have my email addy harvested. And for what purpose?

A proper software company would respect the anonymity of others and not force us to hide from you fearing that you're worse than that which we're trying to protect ourselves from. Good show, mate! :(

Yes it is all interesting :) and Halal has also posted in other forums and most of it really starts here..

with this post and to the end of that thread..

Andreas and his new project a2 is already mentioned on the Scandinavian webpage Spywarefri
    http://www.spywarefri.dk/artikler.htm#scanner
They did not test a2 but tell a little about Andreas and his earlier project Gladiator and as they say "he is a serious working person fighting against spyware, virus and trojans"

Now the other guest from .sa who had posted in that thread with vicious character assasinations..their posted where deleted by the Moderator of that forum.

Halal in that forum even makes more claims.

It is an intersting process to see the entire thread. None of it professional..in 80 percent of the post... and yours here was an expected reaction as well.

But nice rhetoric..I am just interested in how this thread at Wilders will go next.

    Be well Tossers

<Edited. Please refrain from personal attacks and concentrate on the software.>

We've seen the likes of him before, and the chatter on the newsgroups is that they've already figured out his definitions and have found them p*ss poor. Worse than snip. Without changing a bit, it's lair it up.

<snip>The customer is to be treated properly and all I've seen has been anything but. All sorts of skite, but no ridgy-didge. Pardon my French. :)

He can have at me if he chooses, but I don't give a whit. But I certainly haven't appreciated the various comments he's made, and the programme does have its flaws. I saw the comment about "darkening your doorstep" and had been hoping for once, someone would stand their ground <snip>

Sorry to come off like a dag. The goings-on of a particular vendor have me a bit dipstick. In reference to the software, it claims to be a trojan scanner. I've also given it a go and found it to be a bit figjam. Whilst I don't have many nasties, I've acquired a few and not a one detected either.

What bothered me in particular though is the extremely unprofessional way with which those of us who wonder about the effectiveness of this product have been dealt with - "give me the samples" and so forth by the author in question. As though there's some birthright for us to solve his problems rather than the other way around.

The post where the person in question posted the results of his investigation of the person who was unhappy just put me over the top. Is there no privacy? When one takes a potential customer and gives them the third degree, then I interpret it as a bounce. And in Brizzie, we don't stand for that. Apologies.

    Gavin and Andreas,, Hello

Since I am not at my lake place anymore, I am having to use Hotmail, Yahoo ect. for e-mail. I sent a couple sample files to Andreas but it appears Norton strips them away. Even though you get the message , they can't be cleaned in Yahoo, the files did get stripped. Besides that online e-mail usualy only allows 1 meg of data ata a time to be sent.
I will go over to a friends and use his connection. That way I can send
a much larger file and not have it stripped away. I am guessing you have most of my files covered allready Gavin ;) I will send a bunch when I can and you can pick through them to see which ones you don't have.

One thing I want to make clear though!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not posting here about A2 to belittle it or Andreas.
I have no problems with people contacting me via e-mail either.
I have been meaning to buy TDS-3 but just haven't yet. Sorry guys.

    Andreas,

just a quick word of encouragement...

don't let the whiners of this world get to you like they have gotten to others...

I encourage you to not waste your time responding to the whiners, you can never satisfy these people... just ignore them... they will go away

Your work will speak for itself... either a-squared will be deamed a good program or not based on actual results.

I am waiting on the try b4 you buy version, which will be a full trial version...

most of us understand that the initial free product is a free scanner and does not have all the sigs... sort of a preview of things hopefully to come...

take care, and again don't let the whiners get to you...

    rant on

To think Scott was made to feel lack crap by this guy and then this guy closes his site not referencing other proxo sites but instead listing alternatives to proxomitron...

    talk about ungrateful.

Scott what ever you are doing kudos to you for what you have built with proxomitron. Too bad you let the whiners of this world dictate your departure. Looking at the "never satisfied no matter what you do group" it's a wonder you stayed in the game as long as you did, but here's one user who is glad you did.

    rant off
