I currently run Mac OSx 1.04. I have it in stealth mode, as well as have the firewall running. Regardless, my girlfriend's ex boyfriend has hacked my myspace, vampirefreaks, hotmail, and yahoo. He's sent nude pictures of myself to my family, friends, and anyone else I've contacted. My passwords are changed frequently to everything I use and despite all attempts (changing my ISP, ordering alpha shield which still has not arrived at my house) I can't get him to stop harassing me. Cops haven't even been able to track him down because he uses a public computer and I've apparantly been given a bull **** last name.

    huu..Maybe I shouldnt answer coz I dont know a thing about mac-computers :)
But if those things were happening to me I would look for a keyloggers and trojans in my computer with a online virus scanner or try another antivirus (but maybe trojans and stuff doesnt exist on MAC´s? I´ve heard from fanboys that MAC users arent admin so malware cant do their dirty stuff? sorry for my ignorance)
Or download a Linux live cd and do the internet stuff from there (change the passwords to the online accounts) I did a quick search for a linux live cd for mac and found this. I dont know if they are as easy to use in a mac as in windows, but it doesnt hurt to try.

Is the Linux live free? I know it's copyleft software, so people are constantly fixing these things.

There are infact next to no viruses out there and Mac has a 7 layer firewall.. my problem is that somehow he is getting hold of everything I do online. Is the Linux live just a browser, or is it an OS?

I couldnt see anything about paying for the Live cd that page, live cd for windows are more often than not free to use. I dont see why they shouldnt be free on mac too..
here is a direct link to the live cd iso (the link didnt work for me on the other page) This is the page where it comes from

it is a OS that you boot into, it will not leave any traces on your computer.

There has to be a common link here somewhere.
I won't even ask how her ex managed to access nude photos of you, but if you posted them to MySpace, then sorry to say but you get what you deserve.
Does your girlfriend have any of your passwords? If so - why?
Sounds to me like your computer's been compromised; at the very least, your online accounts have. Wipe the drive, do a re-install, cancel your online accounts and create new ones - and that means new passwords that only you know.

No way in hell would I post nude photos of myself to any public page. I'm not like the majority of idiots, especially these little pre-teen twits, who have no shame, or common sense. I had taken those pictures for my girlfriend only. She also had given me pictures of her (which he has and has sent to all of her friends that she has contacted). The only password she had was to my vampirefreaks, and I had changed this because we were having a bad fight. She didn't even know, until a day or two prior to my being hacked that I had a myspace, and certainly did not know the password. I changed my hotmail password several times. Being that she too is being harassed, and didn't know my passwords, this can't be linked to her. She claims he has some $700 program that hack any computer.

Oh and to the person that claimed I have first post panic, don't judge every person just because they don't introduce themselves. Noob syndrome is for computer games. I found a computer security forum, and I have my specific question and reason for coming here. I need help, sorry that I am not some regular, or l33t. So if you have any information that would be of help, please impart it, or don't play games. I've enough stress without having to deal with people who become ego-maniacs and think they are super bad behind their little computers.

Do you use wireless LAN ?
if not i would change all accounts from using a live cd or a clean OS install like it has been said already.
if you use WLAN then there might be the culprit. ?

Also, do you use these accounts only at home? Look for the obvious first.

If the problem is in your computer, personally i would backup everything to an external HD and/or CD's, and re-install the OS.
Read about securing MAC, use Firefox with NoScript extension and CookieSafe.

I am wireless. I was initially going through my neighbors internet, but because I want to bring the ****ing prick to justice, I have to do everything legally. I have my own internet now. I'm still wireless because their is no phone jack in my room, but it is passworded. What's more, he lives in Illinois and I am in New York. He couldn't just sit outside of my house and hack my net. What's more, I've just received a call from a coworker earlier. I've never contacted this person online, or visited any page of his, yet this bastard emailed him too. Are there any other suggestions of how he could possibly be doing this? I also don't see how whiping my hard drive would work. Would the MAC and IP address not still be the same?

Wireless routers subnet your IP, and as long as you use WPA-PSK or better encryption with a sufficient length mixed-character password, your MAC also won't be an issue. You can also use TLS or Tor, local data encryption, and either a hardware or software firewall (if your wireless router doesn't have one already built-in) for starters, in addition to what I've preciously mentioned.
    Good luck.

Um... I'm using my own internet as I previously mentioned. I had changed all my passwords. Somehow he managed to get everything I use online just the same. And no my problems are still there. I made new names and he STILL changed the passwords right under my nose, and no they're not easy passwords. I use hex passwords.

Anyway, to the person who was talking about the built in firewall on a router.. I'm using a westell 327w and I'm on WPA Personal. I've spent the better portion of the time after I got out of work screwing around with my Gateway, but everytime I try to customize any of the firewall settings so I can atleast use yahoo messenger, it tells me the string is invalid, or something along those lines. I followed the basic trend of what I could understand in in bound, making the same kind of string of text and then going to a web site with tcp/ip ports listed and typed in the ones for yahoo.

I know that if I looked around the web hard enough I could find out things, but my time is limited (Wal-Mart owns my soul sadly) and there is too much I have to do in a days time that I don't otherwise get done. Not to mention that my girlfriend constantly calling me up and bitching because while I'm trying to figure out the firewall it won't allow messages between us.

I currently have the firewall settings set to low. I quite frankly want to block all the ports, except those I use for basic internet functions, Diablo II, and instant messaging. Can you help me out here?

1- he is not snifing your network (man in middle)
2- you've changed passwords and they get altered anyway

So, to me, the problem is either in your computer, or on the online accounts (Myspace unsecure by default - ex: google "hack myspace" - or there is some settings in your accounts that can be changed)

Your best help would be Mac users who understand how to secure it, the forum posted above by coolbluewater to fine tune the router (btw, is there some setting to manage remotely the router? is your password good etc), and finally any myspace users or websites that approach the subject (i dont have any account like that).
