Could spywareblaster stop my printer installing?

Hi,
I recently found this site and downloaded and installed Spywareblaster 2.61. I updated it and everything was fine - until my HP 930C printer stamped its foot and refused to play nicely with my photos. I assumed the driver was corrupted and uninstalled the whole HP software file, but discovered that I could not reinstall it. My machine claimed it could not "load the installer hpzuci00.dll." I know Spywareblaster works in the background to prevent sneaky installations, but could it be making a mistake here? or is my machine (Win 98 SE) just playing up.
The only other thing I've done recently is update my AVG program (twice) and download and install a Windows update.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi souzapet,

You can test if it is SpywareBlaster this way.
Click Deselect All > Remove Protection against unchecked items.
Then try again. If it still won't work, we have to start looking for other reasons.

Wow! That was a fast reply! Thank you.
I tried deselecting all, but - stupidly! - I also started to check other things I'd done recently and realised I'd done a "cleansweep" with Norton after I'd uninstalled the HP software, just to pick up anything left behind; I looked at one of the files Norton had removed and it was the missing installer so I restored it.
At this point, I was able to partly install the software - system in control panel now recognises that I have the printer on a USB connection - but my printers' folder still denies its existence.
I'm not sure now whether deselecting Spywareblaster's components helped at all, or whether Cleansweep had just removed files it shouldn't have.
Of course, when the machine rebooted, Spywareblaster became active again; could that have prevented a "full installation"? I'm sorry about this - I only have a little knowledge and am a definite danger!
Any ideas on what I can try next, please?

Thanks for the link: I had misunderstood the instruction and whilst I had deselected all, I thought that that removed protection. Now, after looking at the screenshot, I realise that I should have selected the option myself. I'll do that next, see if that makes any difference. If not, I'll play around a little more with cleansweep and see if there is anything else I can restore.

I did manage to restore the rest of the files cleansweep had uninstalled, but still could not rectify the problem.
I also downloaded new drivers from the Hewlett Packard website for my printer, which got me a little further forward. However, after eliminating as many other possibilities as I can, I believe that I may have a problem with my usb ports. I tried to install a card reader on the same ports and had similar problems so I'll look - or rather get a competent friend to look - at the ports and their present drivers.
