Think theres some weirdness happening to my Computer

I have some issues happening which I cant figure out I have Windows Vista installed usually, but today I decided to reinstally My XP Pro, so I first Securely Overwrit my hard drive with WipeDrive 3.0.3 and then inserted my XP disk into my CD ROM and rebooted and proceeded to do a clean install of XP, or at least I was going to but..........When it got to the point of actually installing XP the C: Partition was as Follows: C: Partition1 [Unknown] 131072 MB on MBR <13107 MB Free>

Theres something wrong here because my C: Drive size is actually 305244 MB
so I decided not to continue with the XP installation as 131072 was the Maximum the partition could be, and 141172 MB were missing an nowhere to be found

On reinstalling Windows Vista the in same Method, the Partition read as: 297.1 GB or 305244 MB available for the partition size, and on Completion my Local Drive [C:] Read 286 MB Free of 297 so it was reading the Correct size.

I did then try a full install of XP but the Local Disk read that the size was only 128 GB after XP installation Why is XP not reading the missing 141 GB of space, but reads the correct space on Vista ??

 

Sounds like an issue with large drive support.

It sounds like you're using the original XP install disc, as SP1 includes 48-bit LBA support, with the ability to recognize drives larger than 137GB.
Your specs seem to indicate this (137GB - NTFS formatting = your current space availability).
Just install SP2 and you'll be all set; verify using Disk Manager afterwards (Control Panel - Administrative Tools- Computer Management - Disk Management) and make any wanted/needed changes there.

 

So I can still install using this disk on the 131072 MB partition size, the Maximum it will go with my XP Disk, and then download and install SP2, and then extend the partition size in disk management to the correct size, is this right ?

 

Save yourself problems, slipstream SP2 to your original install disk ,it takes a couple of minutes with Autostreamer
