Ok what are some types of these programs other than siteadvisor? I know trend micro has a free one, and is sitehound trustworthy or is it fake? But most important what is better than siteadvisor and free, thanks.:)

Some other alternatives are mentioned in this poll. And I do consider SiteHound trustworthy; made by the same people behind MailWasher and Benign iirc.

I have not tried each such tool, but as I said in that thread I prefer LinkScanner (Lite) over SiteAdvisor. I just dont like SiteAdvisor's broad criteria for bad sites.

I'm not quite sure if these are the same, but I hear many speak of LinkScanner. http://www.explabs.com/products/ There is a comparison to siteadvisor on the left under 'Quick Links'.

If I'm doing a search, I use Scandoo. http://www.scandoo.com/ They also have a plug in although I haven't tried either plug in. I'm a minimalist when it comes to plug ins :).

I know of some people that have tried SiteAdvisor and LSL together. They seem to work well enough. I have considered SA and Finjan. As for Finjan, it does not seem to have the sometimes long delays in scanning sites as does Scandoo and LSL. And it does not run in the background all the time like LSL. I use Trend Protect which was highly recommended to me by a guru friend who tested it against SiteAdvisor and confirmed TrendProtect was the better of the two. I also use WOT .... In comparing WOT to TrendProtect they pretty much rate sites almost identically. - Both are FREE. :) Both work with IE & Firefox.

Am I right in thinking TrendProtect isn't a firefox extension unlike Siteadvisor?

How much memory does it use?

    Thanks,
    Ian
