    Using Windows Vista Home Premium-
    That's a fast trial :thumbd:
Downloaded and installed (clean install) AVGAS, did an update, rebooted, now I get a message *Your trial has expired*
I didn't touch any other settings, only did an update, left everything as is, default settings.

Anyone else experience this or have any solutions?

Have you ever in the past used any other version of AVG antispyware . If YES , this is where the problem comes from

I downloaded the program on a Vista PC for the first time today so I couldn't have used any other version of AVGAS, none of them were compatible with this OS.

We're sorry for the inconvenience. We've investigated and fixed the bug and it will be released with the next release.

    Regards,

Here is another free trial offer horror story. I have paid for the service and have had it for about three months beyond the trial period. However the "free" version keeps running altho I went to "add remove" and deleted it. IT JUST WON'T GO AWAY! Altho I haven't scheduled it to run, it starts scanning every morning at 8am then again at 11am then the paid version runs at 3am as scheduled by me.

How on Earth can I get rid of this annoying problem? 'Cuz every time it starts to scan, it slows the machine down. Hellllllllp!

When I installed the free, I changed over to the paid by entering my license code into the free and it became the paid. I did not download a new one.

Do you have 2 AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 folders in program files/Grisoft?

Also the scheduled scans would only run in the paid version after trial period. Have you checked your scheduler under scanner?

    steveke: Thanks for your reply.
When I installed the free, it was ewido, then became AVG with the new 7.5 which I DLd. I then went to Add/Remove programs and deleted the free version, but it keeps coming back! At eight o'clock each morning a second AVG icon appears in my task tray next to the AVG icon with the "s" in the middle.

I went to Add/Remove Programs and there is no AVG program at all.

Therein lies the problem. I have programmed the (paid) scanner to run at 3 am. and that's the only one.

    Again thanks for your reply.

As far as AVG AS not being in add/remove-checked mine and the AVG AS and AVG AV are both there. I have XP-I do not know if there is a dif in Vista.

But, did you check the actual program files folders-you have Vista so I am not sure-but in XP it is Start/MyComputer/ProgramFiles/Grisoft/AVG AS 7.5 and in your case possibly an Ewido folder. You could also do a search of your computer for Ewido to find it.

I know my AVG AS 7.5 folder has an uninstall within it. I do not know about Ewido, but I think it would. You may be able to get rid of Ewido through there.

The second icon-does it have an "S"-sounds like an AVG AV icon if it does not. The Ewido icon was quite different.

Why they are not on add/remove and why Ewido is still there, I do not know.

When the scans come up, have you been able to check your processes to see which is using CPU?

steveke: Yes the scan says AVG Free Edition but I can exit the scan. But,
wonder of wonders! The free edition did not run this am. (I'm running XP Home). The second icon did not have an "s" in it and that's what was driving me bats. But since I have posted this and along w/your posts, the problem seems to have been resolved. I'll know for sure at 11 am.

    Tnx again for your time.

If it is AVG AV the you can un or reschedule. In control panel highlight "Scheduler" and a scheduled tasks button will come up. Their scheduled scan cannot be deleted but can be set not to run. I believe the default time for that is set to 8AM and it is scheduled by default. I am wondering if the other is the scheduled update.

Anyhow, sounds better than before. One less headache.

Sorry the Vista ref was from looking at the first post.

Well my euphoria was short-lived. I had to reboot. On startup the evil Free Edition appeared once again. So I went to my C/Drive and clicked on AVG Free and it gave me the choice to un-install! Great. However, when I clicked to uninstall, I got a message to the effect that it could not be uninstalled because IT WAS NOT INSTALLED! YIKES!

I did check the scheduler again and there is only one task: to run the paid edition at 3 am.

If I had a surplus of hair it would be ripped out by now.

    Bummer.

I just want to make sure we are on the same page. There is an AVG free which is an anit-virus. AVG Anti-Spyware is separate. Both an anti-virus and AVG AS should be active.

Are you still seeing an AVG icon without the S, when the process starts? Were you able to check your processes in the Windows Task Manager to see which was using the CPU at that time?

When you went to C, specifically which folder? On mine there are 2 folders in the ProgramFiles/Grisoft folder, the AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and the AVG7 (the freeware version of AVG anti-virus. Or did you go to Ewido folder?

    What is your anti-virus program?
