Had a pretty big update today with Avira Premium, over seven MB. It is the largest I have had at one time with them.

They have a lot of these updates, with this number of new signatures, almost every day :D

Nothing to get excited about - it's just the normal Antivir1.VDF update. Here is the announcement from Avira, see the latest post.

My sympathies to those using the Classic version for the next few days :'( :D

My post wasn't meant as an alarm that something might be wrong. It was meant as a good thing. Avira is staying on their toes :thumb: :D

It's just a virus definition consolidation. I hope avira could split their signature into more parts instead of 4 only.

AVPE-Classic updated for me -- really big file! -- in a little over 10 minutes. Not bad.

I have two older rigs that use Avira(until VBA32 3.12.2 hits) and they updated without much trouble I think one of them had an issue with the update one time and that was it. So all in all it was a good update for Avira. Just a little FYI.

I had several failures of that update on the 10th. The log shows that it would take SIX HOURS to update on a fast cable modem! :D But at 1PM Hawaii time on the 10th, I got the update in 6 minutes, 45 seconds. That was at midnight German time. I had several more failures on the 10th and 11th for regular definition updates. It was noted in the Avira forums that the premium servers were extremely bogged down for awhile and Avira support said they were surprised by this and would look into why and prevent it in the future. Nothing about making the servers for the free version faster though. But you can't blame them for wanting people to buy the AV and encouraging that by leaving the free servers slow. (But they have to get their store page for English users fixed if they want people to buy Avira). ;)

You can also do a manual update by downloading the fusebundle and installing it from the update menu in the main program. The unicode version is for xp. This is a large download but on a broadband connection it should only take a couple of minutes.

That is about the classic version. I have the Premium version. I was talking about the Premium servers being under an unprecedented heavy load. Avira forum tech support said they were very surprised that the PREMIUM servers were so bogged down. So, why did you point me to a post about the classic servers? They are always bogged down during big updates.

    Simple!

I thought that you were refering to the free version...

Next time I will not worry about...

Did my update of the classic version first thing this morning while most others were asleep. Took one and a half minutes to download 8.63mb's.

We all get there in the end:)
