This is what drove me from Dr.Web 2 years ago!
Nice to see it is still not fixed...

As Chris was posting so was I, and in clarification DrWeb is/was the only AV that completely froze my PCs for 2-4 seconds each and every time after an update.

It's the only one that I know of which shows this marked effect :p

    is that so, maybe bitdefender?

its done it since i can remember for me

but anyway, why does it matter...... it takes a few seconds to install the update, big deal.

rather this, that aviras updating, program and removal problems.
kaspersky with its dodgy slow http scanner and email scanning, constant pop up problems.

    etc etc, could go on.

to say this is a big problem and enough to leave the software is just stupid.
not even close enough to be a reason to leave drweb.

Sorry to say but most premium users do not encounter these problems but if you encounter all 3 of them with the paid version ( yes paid like dr web to be fair ) then maybe the fault lies with the user.

However i am a licensed dr web user 2 and i don't care too much about the freezing although it is anoying and they should fix it.

not saying it doesnt need looking at,

but its not a big problem, a few seconds to allow it to install the updates.

and definatly not a big deal to leave the software.

While using the pc for work purposes this is a BIG deal, maybe not in a hobby/rec use pc, but come on 2 years to fix ito_O
When I want to get something done a pause everytime DrWeb updates is extremely annoying, and should not work that way plain and simple.
Could you imagine the outcry if a top tier AV ever did that, and let it sit for years?
All I would have to say is what userbase?
    Done feeding the troll(s)

Well, I just reveived a reply from Dr Web support (about five weeks) regarding verion 5. The reply is as follows:

This is of course good news. I do wonder why they are able to answer these questions 'now.'

I am back on board -- thanks mainly to C.S.J.'s persistent loyalty, plus the fact that n8's post shows that the DRW folks are finally speaking to the unwashed masses.

I am a patient of the good doctor, and Ada is my nurse.:-*

    welcome back bellgamin :D

N8 - if you think about the features that 'could be inside the product to make it better and rival others, they most likely are going to be. :)

im really excited about V5's possibilitys, it could... really push the big-boys for security, if its put together properly.

That is very true. I would, however, have liked Dr Web to implement varying levels of heuritics, a la VBA32 and Avira.

well on the opposite side, i dont want to see different levels of heuristics.

seems pointless to me as i will always just set it to high

But not everyone will "set it to high." According to posts on the Ada forum (VBA32) most folks set VBA's heuristics one step below the highest setting. By the way, the name of VBA's highest setting is "Excessive" -- really!

I don't see any mention in their reply about the update annoyance. If this is not fixed I will be moving on after 3 years. It is a deal killer for me. No fix, No buy

    your welcome of course :)

there are no dates for 4.44 'released version' but id say a week or so.

i was told todays 'program' updates, were for spiderguard to improve its speed working, although i think thats already the fastest part of drweb.

Still no fix, I have had a key for DrWeb for 6 months and not activated it yet because of this.
I am not complaining, today, because it is coming off and VBA32 is going back on this one too. :)

Oh and this pc it is doing it on is a AthlonXP 2k+, 1GB dual chan, 7200rpm WD Caviar SE 8MB cache, Asus A7N8XE Deluxe. And still almost locks up after every update! Ugh!

you mis-read my post i think,

i said when 4.44 is released, the fix will be there.

4.44 is still beta, but i expect it to be released within a fortnight (but you never know)

it should also be nice to see 4.44 tested for the next on-demand test with av-comparatives (touch wood)

Sure would like to see that new 4.44 Version..  . DrWEB is really giving this one a road test. Guess after the few annoying bugs that accompanied the prior release they want a tried and true start...
