4 GB file in AVGAS directory

    :doubt: I'm trying to free up space in my HDD, I found a unusually large file 4gb in my C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. The file is a text document named "Error". When I try to open it with notepad, I get prompted to use another text editor that can open and read this large file.

    What is this file for?

    Hello, I have a file called error.txt in my AVGAS directory but it's only 6 kb in size. No idea if it's safe to delete or not but I am sure someone will come along soon enough that does know.

    As far as I can tell it is just a log file for any errors that occur in the program. Mine was only 36kb in size but if you want to delete it to free up space I believe it is safe to do so. I deleted the file and then restarted AVGAS and it built the file back. It is now taking up just over 1kb on my system.

    Interesting that you have that error text. I went and had a look in my error log and although it is small, just a couple of hundred kbs, it had mostly the same error entries as you, and they had happened on the 8th and 9th of June, and every day since the 16th of June.

    I concur Stapp, it would be nice to know why there are so many errors. My error.txt file is filling up again too. It is added to each time I run the program it seems.

    Well I have tried.

    Emailed AVG twice with logs showing all the errors, would have been nice to get a reply with an explaination.

    The errors are building after every update. If the little taskbar balloon says updates recieved, why is this log showing failed?

    I show approximately the same thing starting on 6/16. Could it be a server problem on their end?

    Although mine started on the 8th/9th I was away for 1 week up to the 16th when I restarted the computer.

    Surely someone from AVG is aware of this now, there are so many people with the same error message.

    Even just a post saying we are looking into it would be nice.

    Are we actually getting the updates onto our computers?
    If not it's a long time to be without any.

    Just an FYI
    I saw this thread a few days ago and at that time I had a 64k error file. Most were from a day in March. Then 3 in June, 16th 28 & 29.

    I deleted it. I have not had an error file since.

    Just got message to reinstall 7.5.It said there was an error opening it.But it did open.Whats going on?Paid version.

    I'm still getting the same Blue, I've had this paid version installed since it came out.

    Have tried support yet again, they just don't seem to want to explain what is going on.

    Program Files list,guard (AVG Anti-Spyware guard),guard(system file),guard 64 (system file).Resident shield is active,no guard.exe in program files.
