I don't see any valid point where NOD32 failed.

They are really crazy, how come they renamed eicar.com to eicar.exe o_O  Eicar.com is a standard test file that all AV vendors agreed on, why do they modify this standard ? Oh, and they even changed the eicar string to WARN-X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* and CURE-X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* and DELE-X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* :D

I don't know who actually did this "test", but I'm very doubtful it was someone from KAV. An AV expert wouldn't put anything like this on the web except as a joke on the Fool's day.

In reality it has great results. Today I uploaded a suspicious file to Virustotal, detected by NOD as probably a variant of Win32/Genetik, and also detected by other vendors. I'm certain (because of the origin of the file) this wasn't a false positive, but K detected 0. How's that for a test?

Why do all of these single post people like Alaska99 and starforce have to pop into the NOD forum to start their trolling missions, only to never be heard from again? :p

    Another K test for you:

This is to test the new heuristics in KAV/KIS, but I (of course) had to put IMON through the test and the results were: probably unknown NewHeur_PE virus probably unknown NewHeur_PE virus probably unknown NewHeur_PE virus probably unknown NewHeur_PE virus :D

Hey Hammer, don't be too hard on the little guy! I post infrequently also, but have faithfully read the Wilders forum for years.. a very good forum, I might add.

ps.. is there a better free firewall than Comodo?? I mean beside Zonelabs, I switched to Comodo after Zonelabs latest upgrade. they insist on embedding their firewall in Outlook (no disable option) I consider this quite arrogant of ZA.

So not only is the eicar.exe they provide 'not-a-threat' it is also not a standard test file...

I'm not fooled by them that easliy ;)

    Cheers :)

Actually I remember this from an official Kaspersky Manual. It was demonstrating how the KAV engine detected modifications. It's no hoax.

It's very ridiculous to go to a competitor and ask them for reasons to go with another product. They certainly won't make their competitor look better than they are.
