I was going to beta test the new Bitdefender suite, but the more I use this one, the more I like it. And from the reduced number of postings in this forum, it seems things are improving. So time to put the beta on the main.;)

I'd wait for Beta 2 to do that if I were you.

Me too, since I've only this box right now and I can't install virtualpc on it (the network driver won't work for some reason). Although I keep SSM to complement it, since for now, beta1 has no bb/hips/anti-leak capability. (when I use it, because I switch between several configs, since I test things for now, but ESS is nice and light)

You have Microsoft Virtual PC ? With Win XP Home ?

Although it installed successfully on my XP Home , I got two warnings that the system requirements require XP Pro ...

Yeah, I got the same warnings, overall the installation went OK, only the network driver didn't want to install. I got it as part of a student deal in France where you have visual studio 2005, one note and other products for free when at a public university. But as the network driver doesn't work, i ended up un-installing it.
(yeah, technically, it works on XP home but is supported only on XP pro)

    Hello!

I finally had the time to start testing ESS beta. I like the gui and the fact that it is still very light. It works well with my other security programs. I cant wait to see the final product.

im undecided yet whether i like it or not.. seems light maybe not as light as the nod32/lns combo but pretty light.. im not a fan so far of the gui thought seems congested. stuff is imo harder to find in there. i think it should be set up like a normal suite... a section for av, one for firewall, one for antispam etc.. instead of all mixed up like all of them under one topic. i have had zero issues with it yet not one shut down not one crash.. havent installed it yet on vista only on xp. i may do the vista this week undecided still though..

overall i like the program but some things i think should be changed. also i think the firewall needs more attention.. more info on things like attacks etc.. in plain view..

I like the new ESS very much. It is a very well designed program. I know it's still in early Beta. I'd like to know if Eset will make an effort to pass many of the leak tests for its firewall.

It is failing most of the leak tests, if you do a search on this forum you'll find one or two threads with tests ans ESS results.

well it passed every leak test except 1 or 2 in interactive mode.I hope, in future release it will be sorted out.
What im expecting from final release of ESS is,
A good firewall(it seems to be good though in interactive mode)
    A good antispyware.
well nod32 was good antivirus so i dont have any doubts about that in ESS.
But first of all it will be light(well its light in beta only).
And i think that eset will keep on their good work.

Is there in ESS something like the proactive protection avaialbe in Kaspersky Internet Security (6.0) ?
If yes (or yes, there will be in final release) is it in the firewall or in the AV ?
I'm using Nod32 and L'n'S atm and I would like to keep using this configuration :)

    Thx

My thoughts exactly. I have nothing to post anymore, except opinion and random nonsense! ESS is doing perfectly well (except for some uTorrent/Vista problems) especially for an early beta. Carry on, Eset! Another customer in the bag.

What uTorrent problems does ESS beta1a have? I've downloaded some pretty major files and no issues whatsoever. The only bug I encountered is the Outlook 2007 crash bug. And some UI rough edges. Overall it feels like a slightly rushed final product, not an early beta... definitely fine Eset vintage.
