this is almost a copy of norton 360,

yet its soooo basic, and doesnt have as many things....

i cant see this product selling, unless they add more things and definatly add more colour and better graphics to the GUI.

i understand this is a total security, but is a suite still going to come out, with a similar product to the current suites but for 2008?

    Hi
    @ trjam and plantextract

Thanks for your response, much appreciated. :)
I think I will leave the testing to others, as I don't like the sounds of that. :doubt:
    Cheers :)

Using my Rollback setup went into testing snpshot and installed this one but no I will leave it alone. Did not like either the GUI or the way things were thrown in like Ace Utilities type functions. I will stay with ESET suite for a while.

Just installed and am running it on my notebook. It does have some features similar to Norton IS, 360, McAfee, etc. (it seems many mainstream suites are going this way). Is this good or bad -- depends on your perspective. The interface by default goes into basic mode but you can switch to advanced mode for most modules.

I'll reserve judgment until I've lived with it for a week or so (you can't tell much by just installing and taking a brief look at the gui/interface). Besides, most importantly, does it provide a good level of security?

i installed on my backup image and after 15 min recovery my main image back i don't like it, i through it will be a security suit, but this is a system mechanic style definitive no for me

I installed it, and within 15 minutes, it was uninstalled. I should have known from the name Total Security, it was going to be one of those loaded with everything, do everything applications. I guess this is the direction that the security software companies are headed. I don't mind a suite, but I don't like these new all-in-one applications. I'm sure there is a market for it, but it's not for me.

It's worse than i expected. They haven't adde a single thing that i've been recommending it ever since BD9. Interface is the same mess with brand new "coat". And i certanly don't like that huge simplified interface and bunch of useless tools like registry cleaner. It's an antivirus for christ sake...
Guess i'll be sticking with avast! after all even though i get free BitDefender license from my ISP...

yeah, at this rate they wont even have to give away any of those Play Stations 3 prizes. It is ashame. When I saw Total Security I really envisioned that they had taken the suite and incoporated some sort of hips or sandboxing into it. This would have been nice. But when I saw it wanted to clean my registry and find duplicare files, I was flabergasted. Cleaning my PC is not related to security in my thoughts.

    hello,

microsoft do it with onecare so i suppose other security society are moving in this way too. so, some poeple may think ms can do it and not their actual av ? perhaps we will have no choice.

i know its beta 1 but none of the new stuff works.
it looks to much like microsoft onecare or symantec 360.
forgot this version go back to the version 10 interface and forgot the stupid backup and registry cleaner.

why dont bitdefender forgot this beta and instead consentrate on the av compoant with the old version 10 interface?
i like version 10 since it works very well and no added extras.
the only good thing about the 2008 beta is the gaming mode

well in all honesty Chris, they got all our hopes up and look what they bring to the table. I think most here are very supportive of Bitdefender, like their products, and wanted to see something new. But they have no one to blame for this and hopefully will think twice before proceeding on with this product. It wont sell. I am told they will have 3 products. The AV, the Internet Suite and well, "this thang".

    i agree its pretty lame,

i hope for the suite, they bring back the 'red' or something similar, i really dislike the GUI and layout of this total security 'thang' :)

I still have not recieved any suitable reply it seems. If the only 3 versions are the AV, Internet Security and Total Security, then is my poor Professional Plus/AV Plus line discontinued, and whether a price rise will follow from the upgrade to the Internet Security edition?

    My poor pocket :'(

I'm not sure at this moment but i think AV Plus will be replaced by Internet Security, so it will be like an upgrade or something i don't know if it will cost you something or not, but i think either not.

Yes, I think everyone knows this now, and all are sadly disappointed.
