People will say that about all these vendors, and I have found it to be rubbish. With all do respect. I like the Web.

I agree and also like DrWeb (yes, I have a license).
The "certain somebody" comment was directed (in a friendly tongue and cheek way) towards Chris, who I think "knows" (cough) of whom I am referring to.

    Cheers

hmm............ interesting conversation you guys are having, thanks, i suppose :)

    --------------
well there support is fantastic (especially their ticket system) for their current products, just try it... super fast and informative.

my comment about them is more towards a feeling that 'they are right, i am wrong', and they dont really like people dissagreeing with them on something.

of course..... you could say im good at this, but id still like them to be a bit more open-minded to some suggestions or comments, :D

maybe a "we are aware of this and are working on fixing it in the next release" or.... "yes i agree, we will fix this"

you know, something along these lines or something.

dont know, im just waffling now :D

its late and i really should go to bed, stupid work in the morning *lol*

I believe its essential for a human being :) We all like to be right. Anyway, we are listening. After all, its a business, good for you means good for us. And you are right, language matters. I know several languages but think in Russian :)

    Thank you for your support.

    maybe serge,

you can attempt to answer these :)

i tried at the forum, with no luck at all.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
when is 4.44 released, been in beta a while now?

when is the V5 beta due?

when is V5 'expected' to be released?

will V5 incorporate an HIPS? (i know an proactive-pdm will be in v5, how will it compare/work?)

how fast is the V5's scanner 'scan speed' when compared to 4.44?

i understand the 4.44 GUI is not the one for V5, so why does 4.44 have this boring 'plain' GUI? (i know you dont understand this one either serge)

will the Tray Icon be changed, for a clearer - better quality one? (im sure you know what i mean here serge)

i understand V5 will have the integrated quarentine, will 'restore files' be an option?

will 4.44 or V5 incorporate an HTTP scanner (spidergate) (i know an http monitor is in V5, is it spidergate?)

    * if so, will the HTTP scanner slow internet browsing?

will the engine of 4.44 and V5 produce LESS false alarms when compared to 4.33? (heuristically)

will drweb be adding various levels of heuristics (medium>high etc) to lower false alarms? (i doubt drweb will go down this path)

will 4.44/5 remove the different modules, spidermail, schedular etc and put them into 'one' GUI?

will 4.44/5 fix its memory management, especially after a completed scan?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    maybe :)

someone has to old the fort for drweb on here, i feel all alone *lol* :D

but i dont mind, more support for me i suppose.... muuhahaha

Well, I tried stcking up for you at the Dr Web forums, and PMed you, and you dismissed me. You seem to like being the sole Dr Web 'nerd' here.

And yet I feel as though you you were going to break into a rendition of Celline Dion's All By Myself. If you act alone you are alone.

i was told it should be, but you never know.

the beta might be due soon, nobody from drweb seem to tell their customers any details about these things.

    e.g.

avira/nod and others usually state 'beta1 will be 16/06/2007'

bitdefender already stated their dates for beta *sure it changed by a week or so, but the dates were still there and no doubt it will change if another beta is due too.

usually they put it on their websites like bitdefender, but nothing like that ever enter on drwebs site.

i definatly think drweb should tell their customers more, or people will just lose interest.

You are right, they should tell their customers more. I send an e-mail to T/S every month asking about version-5 but always receive a negative reply. One good thing their T/S is first class I always receive a reply with-in 15mins.this must be the best in the business.

yep there support for current released versions is fantastic, probably 2nd to none.

yet, information or requests about future releases (4.44 and 5) or beta questions usually do recieve 'negative replys' which is a very sad thing for drweb.

i know drweb like doing things their own way, but some things should be the same as other companys.

if i send an email to another company about a future release (ie. 2008 which should be released at the end of this year), i get a nice long reply, giving me as much information as i could possibly want, to try and lure me into the product, this makes sense and is good marketing, yet drweb have never understood this.

if drweb came out saying v5 will be released at o_O? and will have these features o_O?? im 100% sure that people will be more interested in drweb, and the word would surely spread around giving drweb nothing less than alot more sales for their licences.

You are 110% right, must be the Russian way.perhaps they think by not releasing info this will keep people more interested.

i wonder what others think about this,

maybe some staff could comment on this, and maybe serge could put his 2 cents on why drweb are like this.

it does puzzle me though. o_O

Dr Web does need to start hyping up version 5 already, once it is out I will start using my paid key again, I know it'll be good!:)

I think that if Dr.Web wants to keep info about future versions under wraps for now, then by all means they should! They have full right to do so, as it is their own product after all.....There is nothing binding them to tell anything new about Dr.Web 5. They may have good reasons for keeping stuff under wraps, maybe we should just respect that. :)

Maybe we should just focus on the "here and now" of Dr.Web instead of something it will be in the future. If you have technology that works well and "holds the fort", no need to make a rush job on the latest in house beta I guess. :)

i dont agree firecat, not at all.

as for 'here and now' im still forced to use a beta, as much as i like drweb and as much as i think the beta is stable,

its one version that i could use for free with the beta key yet my licence continues to tick-down and has done for months now, fair? i dont think so.
