Out of these two AV software which one would be your choice. Comodo has scored very well in terms of its Firewall but would you rate its antivirus software and also what engine does it use.

Comodo uses its own engine. Do not use Comodo it is utterly terrible. Ther si no contest between avast and comodo AV.

Comodo antivirus/spyware is still in its beta form. I'm waiting to see how the full version is going to be before I download it. I have had very good protection from Avast and Its my primary AV I use.

I agree. In the Feb 2007 AV-Comparative "2nd group test" Comodo AV v1.1 scored a dismal 27% and v2 detected around 42%. :thumbd:

firewall and antivirus are very different creatres.
the job of a firewall is to block dangerous packets.
or now adays to stop programs giving out your person data from your pc.
an antivirus job is to detect block and disenfect viruses and other malware.
so just because there firewall is excellent doesnt mean there AV will be.
thats like saying ferrari make good cars i wonder if the TV they are making is anygood?:D

Hi, folks: The decision is as easy as ABC. One is a new kid, still been babyfood-feeding. The other has been around as you can remember, and has an army of diehards. Two years from now, kid may growup enough to join the club. Being a beta tester is a plus to your own experiences/credentials, but not a must.

Comodo's anti virus isn't even close to being ready. Give it another year.

A year is nowhere near enough. More like 3+ years.

Avast all the way for now, although Comodo AV is still a baby and needs to grow.
    Drink lots of milk! :D
