Its still a nice Anti-Trojan with good detection rates, why not keep it? :)
Are you unhappy at Grisoft for the lack of information on this product to you as a reseller? :)

I was helping someone on a forum and they had a couple of problems. It wouldn't run in safe mode (connection error) and after scanning, they clicked on Apply all Actions and the report button remained greyed-out. I ran it myself (with the Eicar test file) and got the same result.

Has anyone else had the same problems? I'm not so worried about running it in safe mode but the lack of a report is, obviously, very serious.

@beynac: Could you please go to Settings and check if "Automatically generate report after every scan" is enabled?

Then it's greyed out because a report has already automatically been generated :)

Hmmm... There's no report showing when I click on Reports on the menu and I couldn't see that one had been saved anywhere. The Reports folder in Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Grisoft.... etc. is empty.

I don't know whether my OP had exactly the same situation. Here's a link to the post, if it helps: Linky

I just retried it with Do not automatically generate reports checked and got the report! :)

I'll change the 'canned speech' I use in the forums. Thanks for the quick response.

I was wondering whether the problem with running in safe mode is because AVG-AS needs the 'Guard' service running and that doesn't run in Safe Mode. Just a thought....

It's not 'serious' but if I forget to "Hide main window" by r/clicking the tray
icon, and just click the close button on the GUI, the tray icon disappears
and avgas.exe terminates (guard.exe is still running).
I have been caught out several times this way. This was not the case with
the previous version. Everything else works fine. Doesn't this irritate
anybody, or is there something wrong with my install (clean install after
    removing previous version) ?? o_O

As previously asked in this thread a couple of times already but not answered, correct install for paid subscribers would be?Other than the update issue my 7.5 is working fine.I don't have Vista and an earlier post said the updater wouldn't be corrected right away.So at this point what is the plus side to upgrade with possible bugs looming?

My problem with automatic production of reports seems to be that no report is produced if AVG-AS finds an archive containing an infected file. It gives you the option to quarantine the archive itself, but no report is produced (nothing in 'Reports' tab - nothing in the Reports folder).
    • With just the zip folder containing the infected file(s) - no report
    • With the file(s) AND the zip folder - no report
    • With just the file(s) - report produced

I already have Prevx running & there is some overlap between Nod32 & Prevx for Trojan protection. I think I'm covered, my main reason to install was to use AVGAS as an on-demand scanner (although my licence is still current) & to delete the odd tracking cookie. The issue is that even using AVGAS as on-demand, it still had the "guard" process running & although I know there are some hoops I could jump through to disable the guard process when not in use, I decided against using the product.

I've been unhappy with Grisoft generally since becoming a Grisoft reseller, there is no feedback from the company to resellers apart from marketing efforts to sell the anti-malware product - of which I have no interest. AVGAS continues to unreliably authenticate though an ISA server which makes it unreliable both for my end users & my own system.

It's likely that I will continue to use AVGAS as part of my suite of cleaning tools on an already infected computer, but I won't be selling the product again.

I have version 7.5.0.50. Does avgas automatically udates to the new version or must i do this manually? I cannot see a option to check for programupdates.
    Sorry for my poor english.
Last question: Must i remove the older version before downloading the newer version?

There's no point in having any anti-malware software if your not infected... Just because it didn't detect anything this time... It may pick up a trojan or something that NOD32 may miss later. I'd keep it as its helped me in more then one occurance (With non-false positives for the record).

True, but I already have Nod32/Prevx2 which I'm more than happy with. The guard hassle is an issue to me too.

Will be fixed in the upcoming release

As workaround while it is not working in this working you can apply the registry patch which can be downloaded here:

    http://fileserver.ewido.net/public.cgi?id=20990

We'll have fixed that issue with the next setup.

    We're sorry for the inconvenience.

    Regards,
    Vinzenz

I have to agree that AVGAS needs to have something for RealTime Detection other than Signatures. With free programs like Spyware Termintor and improved paid ones like a squared Anti-Malware with it's IDS, why would you need AVGAS?

no I have not because I wanted to wait and see who did but can someone from AVGAS tell us when it will be fixed in another update?

There are alot who do not like to fool around with the registry and there are alot who do not come here and have no clue until they try to go into safe mode that it doesn't work.
