I'm new to hardware firewalls so please excuse my ignorance. Today I bought a wireless router that has a firewall. In the past my cable modem was connected directly to my PC and I ran Outpost firewall. Since connecting the router I uninstalled Outpost but enabled Windows XP firewall just for some basic, extra protection. When I ran the "Shields Up" test from http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2 it informed me that my port 113 was not stealth but closed.

Is that a security risk since the port is still closed? It explained that many NAT firewalls in routers do this and the solution is to forward that port to an IP at the top of my network's range. I looked through my router's setup config and have no clue how to do this, but was wondering if it's even necessary.

It's not really necessary. Stealth does sound better though. :D

Look in your router setup for a screen like this.

Thanks. I finally found it by editing the NAT table. Now port 113 forwards to my LAN IP and is stealth to the outside world.
