Help buying a pc

Hi there i need some help buying a pc....... i found this one on ebay

is that ok...I have a compaq p3 at the moment 80gig 512ram..Intel graphics 82813 i think but its old pc everytime my aqaruium screen saver is on cpu revs up, also doesnt support my wide screen so i need to update i hear the core2duo are the way to go..im not that pc savvy , but has to be bought' online as my father is in uk...i dont know of any other cheap sites in australia to get one if anyone can see a better one online or ebay of if you think that's ok appreicate your opinions..... im no big gamer either just browser photoshop etc,emails movies might go to vista later My budget is 750.00 Tx B

Myself, I would be very wary of purchasing a system through Ebay. A co-worker was showing me some systems on Tiger Direct (which he swears by but I've never purchased from). Here's the link to the systems:

And the prices are very competitive to the ebay link.

I've always felt best building my own system part by part but not everyone is comfortable doing this. If you decide to check out part by part please see http://www.newegg.com. Great site for user reviews and prices.

I dont live in Australia, but this site might be more trustworthy than ebay. And heres another site; you can even customize your own PC and have them build it.

 

hi Bill thanks i need Australian shop if possible also i looked up mother board on that one on ebay the reviews seemd ok think its the right one in add? why do people need to be wary on ebay can i ask? thanks for your help

Thanks WSfuser which one on that page u think one on ebay has 2gig ram but 1gig prob do me ok as i wont be running vista xp pro..... and little cheaper too huh the top one first one is that ok you think MD

I agree with "WYBaugh". Building your own machine can save
you money plus you have the satisfaction of having put it together.

It's really not that difficult. Do your research on what parts you'll
need for whatever capabilities you desire from the machine making
sure that they'll all work and play well with each other,
Have a well lit, clean work area to assemble it in, Make sure you
have discharged all static from yourself, (Yes, static can and will
destroy your expensive parts in short order! )
And most importantly, Be patient and take your time.

You should consider building your own before spending your $$$.

There are many tutorials available online covering this subject
to assist you.

If you do go for "Rolling your own" and want to install any
flavour of "Windows" look into purchasing an "OEM" copy
which can be bought at a discount if you're already buying
essentially a whole new computer anyway.
