As most people don't speak chinese here could possibly explain what it does, the screen shots are not very clear, atleast to me. :)

    劝楼主先看看论坛规矩,老外不喜欢人家在论坛里贴照片的。

Micropoint is China's version of Cyberhawk - a proactive defense program. It combines behavioral technology and traditional signature scanning to detect malware. A very effective program IMHO, it and Filseclab are two fine pieces of security software that's come from the East lately. The screenshots show it in action blocking a network connection, detecting an unknown trojan, detecting unknown spyware, detecting unknown spyware, detecting a suspicious process which it asks if the user wants to terminate, in that order.

Its a behaviour-based analysis scanner, much like KAV's Proactive Defense but works both On-Demand and real time. I heard that it uses some technology from Rising AV also, and there was some "betrayal" involved between Micropoint and Rising; but either case, it is primarily a PDM-type scanner, possibly having Rising AV's definitions.

Zero3K,I have read your posts on the Micropoint Forums. You are so kind to introduce the Chinese antivirus software to the friends all over the world.
I am a member from the Micropoint Forums. I recommend the members from Wilder Security Forums to use the antivirus software, whose exact name is MicroPoint Proactive Defense Software.
    Thank you again.

PS:Those who are not good at Chinese can download the software from the following link directly:

    Hey,Firecat!
You say some "betrayal" involved between Micropoint and Rising. It is not true.Micropoint has nothing with Rising.Mr. LiuXu produces it by his own group. Its technology is far more different from Rising.
If convenient, you can try it.The download directory is in the post above.

To be honest, as a Chinese it's so sad that I don't want to use Chinese AVs any more, because all of them have lost their credibilities by keeping on attacking their competitors rather than focusing on product improvment.

If I remember correctly, past posts on this same forum about Micropoint said something about how Micropoint is related to Rising, how Liu Xu once worked for Rising, and how there was some fallout between Liu Xu and Rising, and the word "betrayal" was used. :doubt:

In some dgree, what you say is true. But you deny all the Chinese AVs only because of this?I think it's not reasonable.

Those Chinese AVs might be suitable for average joes. But the reason I mentioned above is good enough to make the decision, because I don't trust thoese companies who attack their competitors everyday (in public, online, newspaper, filing law sue).

Not only that, but in general Asian and Chinese AVs are not well-suited yet for global market. For example, detection rates are still somewhat low for international market, Rising made some good progress but I wouldn't say they're quite there yet. I really do wish many of these Chinese/Korean/Japanese AV companies paid more attention to the global market, because at the moment there comes a communication and demand gap. I believe these Asian companies are capable of putting out great products, and their interface is simply lovable :))), but because of somewhat lacking English help/communication and not good marketing outside Asia, the product remains not so well suited for non-Asian users. Also, as you have mentioned, sometimes they have slightly "unprofessional" attitudes, and this can be good or bad depending on the situation and point of view.

Look at Virus Chaser, for example. Good interface, strong Dr.Web engine, different branches in different Asian countries. Nice functionality also. But it seems the company is not interested in global market. :(

Why should I care about their future? Should I give them money to criticise others? It's not the way a business should work. Even in terms of detection rates for Chinese local samples, Chinese AVs are far behind their foreign competitors, such as kav/avira/nod32/bitdefender.

I totally agree with you. Actually as far as I know, Jiangming/Rising/Kingsoft have started to enter the Japanese market. And I believe the faster those Chinese AVs join the international community, the more peopele would benefit from it. I hope they will win my respects in the near future.

Hi, folks: IMO, brain power has NO border. If it is good, it will be widely respected and used by all of us, no matter what colour of skin its master has or what kind of langulage its master speaks. But there is a distinct culture realization differences between Chinese(for this argument per se) and American (again, for this debate per se). That is most people in China, especially, business persons(of course including IT brains) still possess this mentality : melon merchant always brags his goods are sweeter than others, period. Attacking rivals by all reachable means is just one of many tactics in their game plans. We, here just look at the facts; if good ,stay. if not, show him the door. Simple and easy. If micropoint AV(?) is so good, pls tell me Three reasons why I need to test it. Why is it so different from other AVs. And is it still a BETA? Again, if you have a decent product, in here, show and tell. You are mostly welcomed.

Well, I'll have a shot at it.

    1. VERY powerful detection. Used Cyberhawk? Good. Now take away the system slowdown, inability to remove malware and add in a more powerful application monitoring module, and you get Micropoint.

    2. Built-in software firewall. Rule-based, stateful inspection, as far as I can tell.

    3. It's FREE.

Some Chinese AVs ARE a joke; Micropoint ISN'T. I've used this before, and I'll gladly attest to that. The one thing to keep in mind that the FP rate is a bit high: this is a behavior blocker, and its whitelist isn't very well-tuned for applications outside of China yet (I've seen it flag 7-zip once...). But on the flipside, adding exclusions is easy, and so is submitting FPs for analysis (it can be done automatically by the program).

Give it a try folks. I daresay it's worth your time.

Thank you for your attention.I just found the forum yesterday. And I find that the members here are very friendly.(Sorry for my poor English, firecat)
Perman,I read some of your posts. They are very good.Three reasons why I need to test it?I like your words if good ,stay. if not, show him the door. Simple and easy. Yes ,I can give you many good reasons, but it depends on your choice, customers are the gods!If you only test it because of my words, I will not appear again.
And is it still a BETA?Yes, it still a BATE,because it still doesnt go on the market. And its English version is just introduced to the public.Without the friends overseas, MPDS can not make great progress.

Granted, we're all entitled to our opinions, but I'd be interested in hearing the rationale behind yours.

Hi, folks; aside from what is spam and what is not, here are what i need to say.
hi, solcroft. thanks for your three pointers. They are good reasons and very much persuative. I definitely will give it a try w/ chinese version(i can read). It appears to me Micropoint is more or less similiar to OA v.2 than is to CyberHawk is it?
hi, norman6819, your reply has exhibited Chinese tranditional value-humbleness. If this is Micropoint's business attitude, then it has won a battle. There are a good number of security guru here in this forum. If Micropoint is willing to learn and to take punches, it certainly will have plenty of. And in the end, it will emerge as a clear winner. Stay tune.
