Did a uninstall of the previous beta, rebooted, deleted the Eset-folder, ran a registry-clean and then installed Beta 1a. Rebooted again thereafter.

Everytime I open an email-message and then press Escape-key to close it, Outlook crashes.

Running on Vista Ultimate 32bit and Microsoft Outlook 2007. All the latest fixpacks applied.

Tried also to disable AntiSpam, AntiVirus email and still got the crashes.

I have now just run the uninstall of Beta 1a and even without rebooting I can open/close email-messages without crash. Will go back to Beta 1.

    Error details:
Faulting application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 12.0.6014.5000, time stamp 0x46031a52, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bd80, exception code 0xe06d7363, fault offset 0x0001b09e, process id 0xa60, application start time 0x01c793d082365899.

I've just removed beta 1 and installed beta 1a.

I'm also seeing the problem where closing an email in Outlook 2007 (Windows XP) caused Outlook to crash.

However I've discovered something very strange in deed.... If the open email is full screen then Outlook crashed when the email is closed but if the open email is not full screen then all works fine. very odd.

I can confirm this - Outlook 2007 will only crash if an email is displayed maximised and then closed. Emails not maximised do close without an error.

    Confirmed here too.

    XP & Outlook 2007.

EDIT: Might have found a fix - please report back if you can still reproduce the issue after doing this (and do what Marcos says in this thread).

Setup -> Advanced Setup, under "Antivirus Protection" click "Real-time file system" and click the "Setup" button. You should have a window with 5 selectable objects in the left selection pane; ensure there are ticks in all the options of the first two objects ("Scan Targets" and "Methods").

This has completely fixed the issue for me... I had also disabled the AntiSpam plugin in Outlook and restarted.

Followed your fixes and the problem of Outlook crashing when closing a full-screen email still exists. (XP SP2 + ESS 1a).

Tried those steps on Vista Ultimate/32 & Outlook 2007 - full-screen email problem still exists.

    This happens to me also.

Is there a fix on the horizon?

    The possible fix :

Disable your mail AV protection and rely on the file AV (until there is a fix for this) . If the file AV is enabled , you'll not get infected by a threat

Just came across this one - exactly as you say. Fixes above are not fixes. Presumably a bug which I sincerely trust is fixed in the next Beta...whenever that will be...

Same here- at least I know it's caused by ESS. Otherwise, magnificent product, so I'll stick with 1a despite this bug. Anyway, another confirmation (Vista Ultimate 32bit + Off2007 Professional, both fully updated).

Unfortunately this bug is still present in 1b - anyone else?
