NOD32 not detect AVG detects!

I previously had for 2 years until April NOD32 inlcuding the latest versions...
However running full in depth scan with NOD32 it did not find any viruses/torjans on my PC.

But after uninstalling NOD32 & Installing AVG Antivirus Plus Firewall...I ran a scan of my PC & it found serveral different backdoor agents viruses in .sis files & other rar folders.

My finding is dat NOD32 is not what they say on the website it to be. AVG could find sumfing on my PC were NOD32 could not..

 

They could very well be false positives. Try submitting the files to VirusTotal and see what happens...

 

Its possible they are FPs but AVG's false positive rate is not that high, so most likely they are real malware. Do scan the files on Jotti's (http://virusscan.jotti.org) or VirusTotal (http://www.virustotal.com) and inform us of the result.

Regarding BackDoors, the recent AV-test.org test DOES indicate AVG to be better than NOD32 for Trojans/Worms/BackDoors detection, but still I suggest you to check at the aforementioned sites. All AVs miss some stuff every now and then, so one shouldn't go about changing AVs for that. If your current AV has served you well, and the company offers good support and you like the product, then by all means you should continue using it.

 

It's also possible that NOD wasn't configured properly. It doesn't come out of the box with the settings in this image.

 

Shayesta follow Firecats advice because stuff happens. But having said that the the forums are littered with posts stating my Av(insert name here) did not find anything when I knew I had viruses so I switched to(insert name here) and it found all these trojans etc so product(insert name here) is total crap and over hyped by fanboys. People are moving from one product to another like bands of gypsies with no home, and more often than not the problem is between the keyboard and chair. A little common sense when surfing and downloading goes a long way.

It was false by AVG... i tried what somebody mentioned above.
I fink i will stay with Kaspersky it way better...

That's must be a false positive,AVG to be dead on report PACKED FILES as trojan horse.

 

you know , there is no a AV can detect all virus.
Just choose one AV you love and in your habits

 

My advice is having an antivirus that consistently gets Advanced or Advanced + from av comparatives over time (Some standard ratings are ok). Then you get a good HIPS, and dedicated Spyware solution, and a software firewall. Coupled with safe computing habits, one layer will catch what the other layer may miss. This advice isn't new either
