I expect this will repeat a lot of other's findings, but I thought I would try this anyway. On installing, it froze on the Removing Backup Files screen, and forced a cold boot. When up and running, it seemed smooth enough, but refused to update. This may have been because I didn't have a username and password, but where do you get one from? I filled in the form, but no password came through in the email. Further to this, the lack of a right click scan option makes ESETSS a non-runner for me, unless they are going to update it for the full release, in which case I might try it again.

The default username and passoword are incorporated in the installer. They are both essbeta and will be valid for the whole beta period of the software

I tried using the pre-installed activation identity when I tried this out on a test system. They were refused and I was forced to use a valid User name and password. I had no problems with the a1 release but I only ran it for about 12 hours before reverting the system back to .39.

We are still looking at a June release for the ESS final.

I ran the test system with a frsh install of the OS. No anti virus or spyware was ever present on the system before ESS was installed.

Thanks. Maybe I didn't read something properly. :doubt: Anyway, the lack of a right click scan is no good for me, so unless they introduce that, I'll be sticking to F-Secure.

Beta2 of ESS will have right-click scan (context menu integration)

Yes, with all the competition out there, to be lacking any standard feature would be commercial suicide.
