I voted for KAV

Am giving it a testdrive now and think I will buy it.

 

My vote went to NAV... It was a toss up between NAV and KAV.. I gave NAV my vote because it is a little easier to use an a daily basis, for the general public, that is... They improved their unpacking engine, and they hav ereally improved in terms of daily updates...

KAV is tops in total malware.. so it was a hard decision...

 

Well, rigth now I'm using AVG free

But I have been reading all over bout which AV I will get when I put the money into it, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be NOD32.

I'm a satisfied NOD32 user, but I've installed AVG on my Mum's PC. Set it to autoupdate and scan the hard drive periodically, so she never has to touch it (she might not even know it's there).

Has AVG been good to you? Any letdowns?

To be honest, AVG hasn't let me down at all. I have it here and on my folk's puter out of town as well, but I keep them updating it manually. Nothing has slipped past so far in either case (that we know of).

 

I use KAV because it seems to be the best in overall protection and has frequent updates. NOD has good heuristics, but so far I haven't found them to be as reliable compared to KAV and NAV. Just my opinion, though, based on the trial version of NOD.

 

I simply can't vote, there are too many goods ones out there any more these days.

I voted for KAV.

I use KAV Personal 4.5.

 

I clicked on pc-cillin 2003 but I am running pc-cillin internet security 2004. I like it better than 2003. It really seems to work well . But I also run extendia avk pro and I like that program quite a bit also.

 

I like eTrust. It's management facilities are more than adequate in a profesisonal environment.
And now it's got http/ftp content inspection for free too

 

KAV personal pro..it has all the features one could possibly hope for and as a bonus it is superior in malware detection

I use NAV 2003, and it works pretty well since I haven't had any nasty till now...
It's easy to use, it updates regularly and still has my trust.

The only thing I haven't liked is when I subscribed to DSL, it didn't want to accept the DSL connection utility software. There were about 3 techs trying to figure out the issue, and after many trials I "sort of" succeeded for it never accepted an auto-repairing component of the DSL software!

It has good detection but I know there are other AVs doing excellent work! Oh! I scan also my pc from time to time with Antivir XP just in case.... And I'm careful with all emails I get; don't open anything I'm not sure of and so on...

In seven years of being online, I've never even really come across a virus, worm, or trojan. (No, this not the point at which you chime in to tell me that I have, but didn't know it.)

The closest I come on a regular basis is when my wife gets worms emailed to her by way of the people she corresponds with who happen to use Outhouse, but PocoMail and ZoneAlarm Pro just laugh at those jokes we call "threats". Aside from that, I've had at most two or three malware "threats" emailed to me personally over the years, none of which did anything because of common sense and good software.

Yeah, I run KAV, but every time my CPU and disk are churning, I wonder why...

 

I use NAV 2004, but NOD32 is still installed too.

 

NOD32 here, but still haven't updated to version 2 yet, renewed it, just haven't installed it yet...soon though

I voted for NOD32, which I use as my primary AV. I like it because it does the job very effectively without putting too much of a load on my system. However, I sometimes think NOD32 might be a bit "geeky" for average users.

I too wish you had included AVG in your listings. I have the freeware version installed as a second on-demand scanner--and it is something I have recommended to several "non-geeky" friends (poets are notorious in that respect). I realise that AVG doesn't test as well as some of the other products, but it's just one of those things I happen to like. Everything seems to do exactly what it's supposed to do, and there aren't any unpleasant surprises.

 

I use NAV because it came with the computer, and it does catch the occasional nasty - though only AFTER they get in. Recently it pounced on and destroyed a TrojanByteVerify virus that was lurking in my Docs and Settings. But it failed to stop the EICAR test virus from coming in in a recent Lockergnome newsletter (or a copy of the newsletter being mailed out) though it prevented me from making a .txt file of EICAR itself.

Guess it sounds like I need a better AV

I now use Nod 32 and like it very much.

My first to use was McAfee (yuck) then I swapped to Norton. Norton was also Bundled with my computer when I bought it. I used it for years but did not like how intrusive it was and got tired of dealing with the problems I was having with the updates.
