Did they even test this product ? Speaks volumes for their QA team.

 

in the product page, theres one sentence that begins "The resident on-access monitor is constantly on guard against malware..."

Was the anti-malware plugin always on-access? I read, or I thought I read, it was on-execute.

 

Very disappointed with this. Poor choice of AV module as well as being bug laden. As has been stated, it looks like quality control is non-existent here.

 

i had mentioned this in the thread when it first came to light that agnitum is gonna launch its suite and will say it again....you should stick to your area of specialisation....
already companies like zonealarm,webroot,pctools have lost quite a bit of credibility because of their similar attempt of being "Jack Of All"

 

I was right, wasn't I? The one that was being hailed earlier was not protecting anyone!

It is still pathetically short of being a suite - no matter what ANYONE says!

Still no web scanning either?

I went with a REAL suite... KIS!

You have a choice of scan files "on execution" and "on every access attempt" in the final version.

I just recieved an email from Agnitum, Stating as an Outpost Customer I was entitled to an 80% Discount to Upgrade to their Security Suite. Instead of paying $109.95 for 3 years All I needed to pay was $19.95 Are they that Desperate to Sell this Product or What ?

 

You could of course buy it and only use the firewall---pretty good deal (i.e., Outpost Pro for 3 years for $19.95).

 

Or for a better deal yet, use Comodo for free!

 

Nothing is free, for the American way. Don't forget that.

I am a customer too, so far no such offer has been made. I will check my email carefully in the days to come. However, I see some discouraging posts here

Note: I have lifetime license I am not currently running Outpost.

 

Are they using their own anti-malware scanner or someone elses?

 

They use VirusBuster's engine. Which, IMO, is not good. I tried OSS, and memory usage with AV part enabled went over 80MB. Unacceptable.

Edit: I was referring to AV engine. Trojan/Spam engine should be their own. Corrections welcome.

Sometimes a Jack of all is needed to survive inthe competitive market of security products. If they don't join in the game, the companies are going to loose alot of customers since they can find cheaper all-in-one alternative. Remember that not a whole majority of the world are not like Wilders members that can afford to purchase stand-alone product of each type of required security product. I can't think of any one major security company that still deals only with their "area of specialization" in these day and age.
