[Windows registry] Character with special meaning

I know that & has a special meaning in Windows registry, as it will turn the following character into a hotkey.

I'm trying to create a registry entry REG_SZ MUIVerb, where I want & to be displayed as a literal character.

Considering that \ also has a special meaning (it's an escape character), I tried adding \& and &\, but the character that comes after & still becomes a hotkey.

I've been trying to find info on how to do it for the last couple days, including in MSDN library, but can't find anything. Maybe I'm not looking at the right places.

I'm wondering if by writing the name I want in a file, where I would include & in the string, if there's someway to link it to that MUIVerb entry? Or, if there's some other way of having it (&) in the registry, as a MUIVerb entry, and still make it a literal character?

Does anyone have got any tips or is it simply impossible to take away the special meaning from & in the registry?

Just to clarify it a bit more, I want to add a context menu to the Desktop that will display a given name that includes & in it. But, considering that & has a special meaning, it will turn the next character in the name into a hotkey. I want to take away this special meaning, making & a literal character.

Fudge!!! That worked! So, all I had to do was use another ampersand character as an escape character and not a backslash.

I searched all Registry pages I could find over MSDN library and came up empty. I wish this kind of stuff was better documented.
