I am looking for Firewall that can give me very detailed report for my system network activity. For example, when i click on application name to show me the IP addresses along with the domain names to which it had access, access time, sent and receive bytes.

If some program is using trusted windows service to access internet to show the application that is using this service.

Option to copy the IP addresses.

In general to get as much information as possible from the report.

    Thanks!

I have used PrivateFirewall before for a while but i can't say it has detailed reports. And also it has lot of popup windows that appears. I am not saying it is bad firewall just doesn't fit my needs.

I haven't used Outpost and Comodo. I will try them.

Privatefirewall is worth looking at. It has very good logging, but you need to know where to look for the report. Also free and very light on system resources.

Well, privatefirewall was too annoying with so many popup windows all the time. And it was starting to block too many things, even some of the addons i have installed on Firefox.
But i may give it another try.

Jetico Personal Firewall has very good logging. You can edit the rules to log whatever you want. The log window can be copied and pasted to a text editor for parsing out what you need. However, it isn't going to be as easy as clicking on an application name and getting all the details you mentioned. It also isn't going to tell you the specific svchost service requesting access. The only reason I'm throwing this out there is because the logging is very detailed; I'm just not sure it is going to be the way you want it. It can't hurt to take a look though.

From the firewalls i have tried so far Outpost Firewall seems to have the features i am looking for. I installed the trial version to see how it will work along with Kaspersky Antivirus.

I am starting to love the security software developed by the Russians.

Outpost is a fine firewall. I've had zero issues with it in the past. Hopefully it runs well for you alongside KAV. Kaspersky used to list pretty much every firewall under the sun as incompatible, but I don't see Outpost 8 on this year's list. I don't see Jetico there either... perhaps it's time for me to take another look at KAV. ;)

Firewall rules can also be created directly from log events, just by right-clicking the event then create a rule...

The one hurdle to overcome with Jetico, especially for first time users, is with its installation and initial setup; the built-in Process Attack and indirect access filters can wreak havoc, presenting numerous pop-ups and often system freezes until they're all addressed and usually 2-3 reboots until things settle down. What I do after an install and before the reboot is replace the default jpfconfig.xml file (the default I rename with a .bak extension) with a backed up one I have, then reboot.

So true, especially on Windows 7 x64. I experienced several freezes during the initial setup and got so frustrated that I almost threw in the towel. I love Jetico so much though that I persevered and am now glad that I did. My learning from that experience was to do the following to make things go smoothly:
    1. Slide the first post-install prompt aside without selecting a response
    2. Highlight the main window which opens automatically after install
    3. Click the Optimal Protection policy
    4. Select bypass for Indirect Network Access and Process Attack and click Apply
    5. Allow the prompt in step 1
    6. Create allow all rules for Indirect Network Access and Process Attack with logging enabled
    7. Place Indirect Network Access and Process Attack back to Learning Mode
    8. Reboot and logon to another account if it exists (to capture all logon activity)
    9. Use the captured logs to create the initial ruleset
Following this will hopefully help a new user that doesn't have a backup configuration to rely on have a much less frustrating experience getting Jetico up and running.

That's an excellent approach, one that could be included in a beginner's guide to installing and setting up Jetico :)

Is this the separate app you mean, or is there another place to look?
