    Adaware antivirus pro
    Adaware ad block
    Firefox Quantum

This is all I really need; AV with an ad block extension. I'd have to go out of my way to get infected.

I'm ending this year with this setup:

    Windows 7 x64

    • Standard User Account used
    • User Account Control set to max
    • Software Restriction Policies configured and enabled
    • Windows Firewall monitoring inbound and outbound network traffic
    • various OS tweaks and modifications
Macrium Reflect using grandfather - father - son backup scheme

Sandboxie for Firefox with uBlock Origin and HTTPS Everywhere

    OpenVPN
    and Mullvad as service provider

Emsisoft Emergency Kit, Avira PC Cleaner and Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool for on demand scans.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

    • Emsisoft Anti-Malware (experimental for me, trial version valid for another 8 days)
    • Windows Firewall Control (Paid) (definitely a keeper)
    • VoodooShield Pro (uninstalled due to problems with this app; now looking for an alternative that works)
    • OSArmor (experimental tool from NoVirusThanks, and I like it)
    • uBlock Origin (the only FF security addon I use; couldn't find any other useful security-related addons for FF that I like)
    • O&O ShutUp 10 (pretty good privacy tool)
    • Iperius Backup (my favourite backup solution)

KFA doesn't include System Watcher like KIS so you may want to add an additional Anti-Ransomware protection like AppCheck Anti-Ransomware/RansomOFF or even Comodo Firewall next to it.

I know it sounds a bit paranoid and I am no celebrity, but it costs nothing and gives some peace of mind...

It doesn't sound paranoid to me. For me it's just too practical and too efficient.
