What do people think about InJoy Firewall 4

If most people would rather have a sophisticated inbound filtering firewall rather than one that passes the most leaktests - this looks like a winner.

There is a personal version too... that still has features like "deep packet inspection" in addition to SPI.

Interesting.

 

Seems pricey at $60 for the personal license.

It does seem to boast above-average filtering capabilities without pop-ups. The user has to define their own rules if they want more than the built-in security policies. No application filtering either, so it behaves more as a router. $60 for the personal version is probably more than most are willing to spend, but it may be worth it for what it offers. However, maybe that is better spent on a router, if it's possible to find one in that price range with similar filtering capabilities.

 

hmm i agree for a standalone firewall $60 is a bit pricey, but for a server firewall this seems like a bargain (when compared to this for example)

Also some people have a NAT router with a packet filtering firewall - NO SPI

 

It is a firewall for a dedicated gateway. Deep packet inspection will suck up some serious amount of resources (CPU), so this is not really something I would like to have on a workstation i.e. my production system.
Version 3 worked fine when I tried it about a year ago, but I had problems with v4.0/4.1 (I have a little confusion regarding this version numbers). InJoy service refused to start even when set to "automatic". I had to manually start it every time I boot. It worked fine afterwards. That was all on XP, haven't tried it on Vista yet.
