Thanks! I was trying to decide on what build to install. I just finished a fresh install of Windows 10.

Me neither Helix, a very "settled" build compared to the rest.

    From Dan over at Malwaretips

    -----------------------------------------------------
BTW, it looks like VS was bypassed!!!!!!
Current state of malicious Powershell script blocking
Ooops. Nope, it wasn't. Another false alarm from the testing squad... so the squad's false alarm rate remains at 100%.
Here is why it is not a bypass...
The attacker must be able to automatically run the command prompt or macro... then it will be a bypass.
The problem is that VS is going to block the command prompt or the macro long before the attacker has a chance to run their command line.
Think of it this way... if the user opens a command prompt (which VS allows command prompts if the user launched it), and runs the format d: command, VS will not block that either.
If I am missing something, please let me know.

    Following this thread...

I don't get it, has Dan been banned? what is the issue or problem with his developer status?
I haven seen any ugly discussion like the one suggested here:

No point in discussing Dan's status further, as @LowWaterMark already posted what he did. There is obviously some stuff that went down, most of which was noticed by a lot of people here, it's not like it was hidden. In any event, look for him over at MT. At least that is what I am doing.

Very sorry to see that Dan is banned from this forum - cannot see the point of it.

Hang on a minute...is he banned? I have seen nothing to say that he is...just that he "can't post here at this time for some reason". It could be due to a technical issue that needs fixing.:doubt:

I was in the same postion a while back elsewhere and it was due to changes by my ISP re. their email service, etc.:( But it was finally sorted out when the Mods got involved, advised as to the anture of the issue, and I was able to adjust accordingly...service restored. ;)

As for the goings on over at MT...well, I won't get started about that lot. In my view best ignored.

    Regards, Baldrick

I don't think he is banned, his account still seems to be active, and I received a PM from him a few days ago. Plus there hasn't even been any heated discussions recent weeks, so if he is somehow banned, it would be weird.

Well since he can sign in, albeit without the orange dev. letters, it seems he isn't banned outright. Since he hasn't posted anything, who knows whether his screen avatar shows "guest" or is just like a regular member's. Either way, you can't blame him for not posting under those circumstances.

Rasheed, you got a response? I submitted a support inquiry, both here and on his website concerning a possible conflict between NVIDIA driver and VS due to "failure to connect to VS service" at startup a few days ago Nothing so far. :cautious:

Yes, but my PM wasn't about VS. I think he's quite busy.
