Version 3.0.672 longer startup scan?

I just bought a new computer and loaded this version on to it. I have had other versions with no problems on other computers. Anyway, loaded fine and seems to work fine, but at computer startup it takes a bit longer to scan than other versions. I suppose it takes about a minute or so after the splash screen to scan and then let other programs load. Is this normal? It is on a window XP pro OS. Thanks

Anecdotal information may not do you much good, but I was going to say that, if anything, I thought the normal startup scan was a little quicker on my systems with 3.0.672.0 than with 3.0.669.0. For what little that is worth!Besides being a different version comparison basis, my comparison is on a different OS (Vista SP1). I used 3.0.621.0 briefly months ago, but I had problems with it and returned to version 2.732 almost immediately.

Having used AIX on RISCstations for many years, I'm kind of used to the idea of a 10-30 minute boot / readying time for the OS. After I start a system I go drink some coffee or annoy my spouse for a while to amuse myself while the system is getting ready for me. I only watch the boot-to-desktop-readiness time for a brief period immediately after I install something new, so that my Type-A-ness doesn't get the best of me at startup time.

I believe that ESET has had a really tough time with the release of version 3, but that they are making incremental improvements with each release. The only serious issue I've had with the version 3 releasess was that early releases were causing my servers at work to become unresponsive. My problems on workstations have been mostly minor quirks in the GUI and with update behaviors.

I hope you get information that is useful to you, but I'm thinking that most people are pretty subjective about this startup scan time issue -- benchmarking such things being the sign of somebody who really needs to learn to relax a little.



You wouldn't happen to hang from little contraptions that float through the air on occasion, would you? If you're that flygirl, kudos to you, my friend. I'm an old aviator of a different kind.

 

There's probably no way how to measure the time it takes the startup scan to complete. The splashscreen is displayed as long as egui.exe waits for ekrn service to load. The delay may be caused by ekrn.exe waiting for other system services (usually network related) to start.
