    I have Linux and WinXP on dual boot with GRUB loader.

    Everything was working fine for weeks until I installed Perfectdisk. Then then trying an offline boot defrag, I got errors and now Windows will only bootup in Safe Mode. Can anyone help please? It gets as far as the windows logo then restarts?

    OK I have an idea. KAV may not allow PD to lock during the offline boot defrag. That is the problem I think. I will try to uninstall KAV.

    Does anyone know how to uninstall a program in sade-mode. It says cannot start windows installer in safe-mode.

    Hi;

    Strange... On WXP Home, I easily uninstall any software when in safe mode.

    Control panel, add/remove programs, and so on.

    Cheers

    funkymonkeyboy,

    Try a selective startup by using the msconfig (runbox) utility with Load Startup Items *unchecked* on the General tab.
    Remember to Apply, then Close .... accept "Exit Without Restart" to exit from your Start menu if any app's are running.

    Note .... attempt offline as KAV may not be enabled. ;)
