    I just booted my Surface Book laptop a short time ago, and Glasswire popped-up this warning. I am amazed as to how this install was initiated. I have no need for this program, so I might uninstall. Anyone have any ideas how this install could have happened?

    Same here.
    I switched on my win 10 laptop today and skype was installed and running in the system tray.
    On a laptop with no mic or camera, which I choose not to use such software on for obvious reasons.

    No Microsoft. Just NO !
    Deleted with extreme prejudice.

    probably was installed as a suggested app through the Microsoft Store

    How to stop Windows from installing suggested app reg tweak:

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager]
    "SilentInstalledAppsEnabled"=dword:00000000

    Thanks for posting that. I didn't know suggested apps got installed. I thought they just spammed your start menu with them.

    some are just shortcuts to have them installed and some do actually get installed. Microsoft is starting to push Skype now since they recently announced that the Windows Store version will be similar to the full fledged desktop version because as you may know the Windows Store Skype in the past was a crippled app that was missing many features. Heck one time I was trying to explain to a client how to add me on Skype and was guiding her to click Contacts > New Contact and she was telling me there is no such thing! That's when I realized she was using the crappy Store app but this has now changed as they are the same but I guess Microsoft wants to force people to try it. Whether I want an app or not, I don't want nothing installed automatically.

    Thanks to all those that replied. :) I guess that the motto is that when Microsoft insist, they [will] persist. ;)

    Thank you! I haven't yet experienced this problem, but I'd like to keep it that way.

    Yeah, the store app was pretty crappy. I don't care to find out if the new one is better. I don't want ANYTHING installed without my consent. And if they give me any of this "The license says you agree to blah blah blah" I will be running Linux before they know what happened.
