The KAV of ATs

Experience with AVs varies greatly. My good friend Mele20 trialed KAV 4.5, which is reputed to be a resource hog, and she said it was one of the "lightest" AVs on her box, that she had ever trialed. Others including yourself have found that NAV is a "heavy" but that hasn't been my experience on my three home PCs, nor was it BigC's {Curt's} experience when he trialed NAV 2005. It all depends on individual system; each system is unique with its own peculiar hardware-software "mix". So each person has to trial security software {AV, AT, AS, FW, etc.} for himself, and not assume that he will have the same experience with a given security software as someone else does. {"he" used generically without implied gender, heh}

A bit off topic:

I don´t think so because this approach works nicely in corporate environments but not for home users. I´ve read about the tech and it´s not perfect, I mean all files you save, all system configuration changes will vanish if you shutdown the virtual OS, good in case you have malware installed, but it´s not something for everyday usage.

Perhaps it´s cool for testing new software or browsing potential malicious sites, but not for normal computer usage, so we still need anti malware tools. And I think the new Limited User support in Windows Vista will help to protect against malware even more.

Thats where you are wrong, Trustware solution is not a Virual OS and you dont lose the Files/ Data files/ OS files when "shuting down the virtual env" , it's a Virtual ENV inside the OS, VFS - Virtual File system and VRG - Virtual Regstry system and so on , meaning when you install a program like Hotbar it runs in VS and cant take info from the computer nor change real info of the OS ... and you can get rit of it in a sec ... i think that Virtualization is the KEY and i'm not talking in OS virtualizaion kinad like Virtualziation On-demend. go and read Trustware solution or Greenborder and you will undertsand ... www.trustware.com .

PainKiller, I must admid that the product looks promising (and I know it´s not the same as VMWare), but I still can´t visualize exactly how we should work with the tech. Btw, I have started a new thread about GreenBorder, maybe you can comment there.
