I think this is a good thing. Most mainstream news organisations are very biased in their reporting.

You can not be serious. There is no way to compare the bias of these Youtubers with that of professional newspapers. Serious newspapers have transparency and source reliability agreements. Your thinking expresses exactly the problem and why we are choosing stupid politicians.

+1. and the problem is that people brainlessly trust whatever they read on the internet, hence the efficiency of troll factories.
Democracies will buried themselves by the exact principles they defend then they will be ripe for the picking.

I was going to post how sad this was, but then I remembered that I don't trust either one...

Yeah, I trust journalists and YouTubers about as far as I can throw them lol. Although your average YouTuber probably has more integrity than your average journalist.

I am completely serious. All major media outlets have a strong bias and as a result, very rarely present a balanced viewpoint. As for YouTubers there certainly are some, that present carefully researched facts, so that they actually provide an objective viewpoint.

I agree but you have to know that if you want objective news and point of view, you must read news about your country events from foreign sources.

Very very few, the rest are also biased and even blatant liars or they don't even know what they are talking about.

I use YouTube for entertainment, occasionally I watch a how to video but I get news from various sources. YouTube isn't really a source for my news.

I agree, same here the only thing youtube is useful is to see uploaded videos of some major events.

Well, nowadays, teens are born in the year 2000 and later. So,newspapers and even TV a lot of times, that's more old-fashioned and ancestral. Phone and (gaming) PC, those are the portals for all things informational.

In the US we have superb PBS for TV and several superb newspapers with serious editors and sourcing.
For those who don't know: PBS=Public Broadcasting Service. PBS Newshour and Week in Review are worth watching.

    I would strongly disagree.

While you are correct that PBS (biased left) is at least attempting to maintain their reputation for solid investigative journalism with shows such as NewsHour, Frontline, and Nova... they are but a pale shadow of what they were even 25 years ago. I can't think of a single other televised news source that at least continues to try. First, cable TV, and now increasingly with streaming TV audiences have splintered into more polarized groups and this has apparently made it more profitable to simply broadcast strident opinion than to stringently adhere to the well-sourced, and solidly attributed facts.

For major American newspapers the situation is even worse. I would argue that only The Wall Street Journal (biased right) is even trying to maintain objectivity and minimize the editorializing of content, albeit largely due to their implicit focus on the financial impact of the news rather the political ramifications of the news. No one considers The New York Times, The Washington Post, The LA Times, or the Boston Globe even remotely objective; and, even worse, it is increasingly infrequent that one finds solid, heavily researched and well-accredited investigative articles within their pages. Not that it is conclusively damning on its own; but the rushed, libelous stories such those surrounding the Covington Catholic kids would have horrified editors of those prestigious newspapers back in their distinguished past. News magazines... Time, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Economist, National Review... don't make me laugh trying to defend them as anything but biased spin-rags catering to their ever dwindling niche audiences.

No, traditional investigative journalism that at least makes a superficial effort to maintain objectivity now looks quaint. Modern journalists are apparently either taught, or just innately believe, that it is their moral right... nay duty... to impose their world-view on all readers. The reason they lack credibility is that while they clearly have such an agenda, they sadly attempt to profess their belief in the objective journalistic ideals of last century. It's blatantly a lie. Perhaps it was even then, but far more so now. That is why YouTubers have more authenticity and credibility than they. These YouTubers generally don't hide behind false claims of an unbiased view; and, moreover, most YouTubers that do spend any actual investigative effort, at least do so from a place of honest passion for the material rather from some vague allegiance to cynical party-based political machinations.

Well said. There's also the use of search engines to influence thought, de-ranking of contributors of video content, de-platforming, shadow-banning, doxxing, etc.

Please read this and understand what I am saying: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/11/world/americas/youtube-brazil.html

This is really happening here and much thanks to relativization and polarization. Note that these great populist politicians are the first to discredit any media effort.

in addition to this, those foreign sources preferably should be from a country that is not in close cooperation or that hasn't very close relationship with your country of residence or nationality.

It's also difficult to take any online articles seriously when they are so full of spelling and grammar errors. A casual post on a forum such as this? No big deal, everyone makes mistakes. When you see missing words, duplicate words, misspelled words, etc. on the "major news" sites online that would have been caught by even the most basic spell checker you have to wonder how much effort was spent at all. Back in the days when most news came from the newspaper people were fired for the lack of professionalism. Proofreaders are obviously not used at all anymore.

What are you talking about?!? Did you somehow miss the giant "Opinion" tab at the top (to the right of the News tab) and again repeated at the top-left of the article? There is no factual content in that article at all; or at least none overtly researched, sourced, and presented simply for the facts themselves. Not to mention The Guardian is very nearly one of the most biased content providers you could have cited.
