    Re: SpyShelter Firewall questions

Does spyshelter firewall register in windows 7 action centre properly ,so that if windows firewall is turned off you wont get any " no firewall installed" alerts?.Ive removed spyshelter firewall for now because ive had two bsods related to spyshelter and netio.sys ,with windows firewall enabled. The crashes may also be related to Avast 7 which ive installed to try out.I used spyshelter firewall with NIS 2012 (windows firewall disabled) with no problems.Since ive installed avast 7 free and enabled windows firewall with spyshelter firewall ive had two bsods in two days ,so i mguessing theres a problem between windows firewall and/or spyshelter firewall and/or avast or possibly a combination of all three?

This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time.

Just an update.Ive turned off windows firewall ,and reinstalled spyshelter firewall (still with avast free) and havent had any bsods...yet.I can also see that action centre shows that theres no firewall installed and suggests i turn on windows firewall,so it looks like spyshelter firewall doesnt register itself...which is a shame.

Thanks for the link.I ran the utility and there was a minor "fault" where logging was not enabled for some reason.Ive enabled logging now.I havent had a bsod since ive disabled windows firewall ,so im inclined to believe theres a conflict between spyshelter and the windows firewall somehow. Can anyone confirm that spyshelter firewall does/does not register in windows 7 action centre (64bit)?.On my machine it doesnt.

I had Windows Firewall, Avast Internet Security (Firewall), Sandboxie and then I installed SpyShelter Firewall.

I had problems. It was suggested to use Sandboxie patch (v3.65.01), which I did. Started having BSOD. So I removed SpyShelter Firewall, no BSOD anymore. Installed SpyShelter Premium, started having BSOD again. Uninstalled, SpyShelter Premium, no BSOD anymore.

Also, the Sandboxie in Avast Internet Security (Firewall) doesn't play well sometimes.

    Best regards,

    KOR!

    Re: SpyShelter Firewall questions

This is memory access violation code which in most cases indicates memory not being properly verified before being used.
