Well technically he never really said anything different, in the quote you mentioned, it has two parts:

He's saying he himself would never buy from eBay, but if someone did really want to, they should check for reputable sellers.o_O

    this forum is biased!
    viking and martijn2 are correct,

i personally would not buy a digital delivery from ebay, this doesnt mean from the internet.

i understand some people do/will, and was issuing a warning to people that these licences could be cracked ones and people should be carefull.

maybe he has mis-read my english, or just cant speak it, i dont know.

personally, i think he is trying to be a smart-arse, and its kinda backfiring on himself. :)

i should have said nothing and watched the "ive been ripped off on ebay" thread.
would have been funny, and i wouldn't have felt sorry in the slightest :D

You misunderstood. On the morning of May 12th, I posted the following:

Exactly five minutes later, he posted the below in response to what I had said:

Note the third line in his above post. He's not saying "he himself would never buy from eBay" as you suggested, he's warning EVERYONE not to buy a digital license on eBay, period. This is as clear as day. I can't comprehend how anyone could possibly be confused about it.

As for your other point, anyone can plainly see his statement about checking for reputable sellers pertains solely to his recommendation to buy the physical product. In other words, he's saying don't buy a digital license on ebay under any circumstances, buy a CD instead, and make sure you buy the CD from a reputable seller only.

When I read his post, I then posted the following about two hours later:

Later that night, he posted the below:

At first I thought he had dual personalities, with one of them saying one thing, and the other saying the exact opposite when it 'woke up'. But then I realized that it was a lot less complicated than that. He had read my last post and realized that it was foolish for him to have made the blanket recommendation to NEVER buy a software license on ebay under any circumstances.

But instead of admitting he was wrong, he twisted his statements around and said "people are misreading my post here", which obviously meant me. He even had the gall to use a rolling eyes smilie, to indicate sarcasm. Like he's trying to imply I'm a fool for "misreading his post". Which is why I'm making an issue out of this. Because I want to assure him that his post was not "misread", and I know exactly what he said. And now, everyone else does as well. :D

The moral of the story is that when you say something dumb, and it's in writing, just admit you were wrong instead of trying to make a fool out of someone else. The worst thing you can do is lie about it, and pretend you never said it. Because it will just blow up in your face and damage your credibility.

Now I'm sure C.S.J. has a few forum buddies who may be motivated to come to his 'rescue', and further twist things around in a futile attempt to distort the truth.

But this post is my final word on the subject, because
it's already been beaten to death.

This is where Ron says "I agree" and closes the thread. :D
